I don’t listen to music every day. In fact, most days now I don’t. But some days I do, and today was one of those days - le apetu wastelo!
Today’s soundtrack was Dark Holler Pop, by Mipso. These guys have the creativity and uniqueness of musically apt individuals, the down home simple feel that comes with bluegrass and mountain music, and the harmonies and structures that always make me think they must have met during training at Berklee or some equivalent. The complex structures and harmonies paired with simple concepts create such a gentle and soothing audio experience.
Just look at these guys, they even look like nice peeps!
Actually, not too long ago, I even covered one of the songs on this album, Red Eye to Raleigh…you can see quickly that they’re far more skillful than I am. Theses guys are a real pleasure to listen to.
I say this like every time, but hopefully if you’ve ever followed me down the musical rabbit hole, you’ve come to realize that I don’t say it lightly - O could write a million words, but nothing would do justice quite like tapping that Spotify link and giving them a listen for yourself. These guys will touch you right in your heartspace. If bluegrass ain’t yer thang, you might be pleasantly pleased to check out my daily soundtracks list for 2022, where I’ve covered a variety of musical genres!
I try to only post these daily soundtracks when I come across one of those albums I can easily listen to on repeat, and this is absolutely one such album.
