Burning out

I had a really good day yesterday. Not. I've had a really busy week with my day job - two clients clamouring for attention - not just the work, but meetings. It's been good, but tiring. I'm also winding up the day job to take the first bit of time out (and from the village) in since-I-can't-remember-when. More of that another time.

That's not all, though. I keep on saying that we have two markets on Saturday, so that, too, has been pre-occupying my mind.

It's no wonder that I put the kettle on, and...

After it dawned on my that I really could smell something burning. In. The. House. I discovered the kettle boiled dry. Very lucky that's all. Although I've been looking at that tatty old kettle (a really bad buy), and wanting to replace it, this was not the strategy I had in mind.

Now, instead of the mangy old red kettle, the stove (and my kitchen photos will) is now graced with a plain brushed stainless steel whistler. I need to remember to cover the spout when I put it on.

But: it's only the second kettle that I've destroyed in 60 years. The last time was 48 years ago.

Back to the markets. Saturday morning will be the usual, but the evening's completely different and my friend and I are working together.

This is what will be on offer. And what I shall be preparing between now and this time on Saturday. With the morning market in between. And a lot more, besides, ahead of breaking away. I think I might do a lot of sleeping and lazing about.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.
