Greetings, the theme of the week in Cinetv Contest is medical drama, there are many movies and TV series that focus on hospitals, the staff that work there and also the patients, that's why I decided to participate by sharing with you one of the movies. of medical drama that has impacted me the most, because it is about the point of view of a patient, which I consider to be extremely important, since medicine is done precisely for the benefit of the patient, but sometimes in certain circumstances people no longer they endure spending more time in hospitals and receiving the necessary treatments, it is a difficult decision but it is true that being in and out of a hospital does not seem like a good life, it is something delicate but at the same time it is a human drama.
My Sister's Keeper / La decisión más difícil
This is a movie that is about a teenager named Kate, she suffers from leukemia since she was a little girl, since her mother, father and brother were not compatible to donate marrow and other things, the mother has a daughter by in vitro, where she was manipulated to be compatible with her eldest daughter, until the moment of the film the teenager is 15 and her younger sister 11, she has already served him several times as a donor, but when she needs a kidney she refuses and sues her parents, the film takes place while the legal actions are carried out and while the teenager goes in and out of the hospital for different treatments, in the end it is discovered that Kate was the one who asked her younger sister Anna to take legal action against the parents because she was already tired of so many medical interventions that had prolonged her life but that she was already mentally prepared to die.
Cancer is one of the most terrible diseases, in the film I could see how hard medical procedures, chemotherapy, bone marrow transfusions, among other things, can be, life in the hospital must be very hard, I saw how a mother who clings to the life of a daughter can be incredibly strong and can even go against everything in order to save her daughter, I put myself in the position of the mother but I also put myself in the situation of the young adolescent who feels exhausted, I think it is something very delicate because although euthanasia is morally debatable, people should also have the right to decide when enough procedures are enough, kate being an adolescent, the mother does not want to accept that the young woman is mature enough to to decide.
This movie also opened my eyes to a reality that I had never known, this is the coexistence that exists between patients in a hospital, for example Kate meets a boy who is also undergoing cancer therapy in the hospital, right there they fall in love, the parents allow her to go out with him, but soon the tragedy separates them, it made me think that those friendships that are generated within the hospitals between the patients are so important, but at the same time so vulnerable, because each person is struggling for his life and not all achieve victory.
I think I would never have enough courage to work in a hospital, I have cared for sick family members, but being there caring for so many people with different dreams and who are fighting for their lives is a situation that requires a lot of emotional strength and I don't I would have the courage, that's why I admire all those who work in the medical area, also all those people who wait inside the facilities for the improvement of their family.
Although it is a fictional film, where something is presented that is not common, such as a minor suing his family for medical independence, I think it is very realistic because it reflects everything that actually happens in a family with a sick member, how expensive treatments can be not only financially but also within the family dynamics.
