Ugh, that title almost sounds dire, doesn't it? It's not really, and this is something I've been contemplating for a bit since the participation in Hive Power Up Day has been steadily on the rise. However, given how this month is going it's clear the time has come to make a change, and rather than announcing it ahead of next month, I need to do it now.
Dang, I'm not making it sound any less doom and gloomy, am I? 😂
So bit of a spoiler alert, participation for October once again hit an ATH, with close to 200 people powering up and posting (191, to be exact). While @abh12345 sends me the data every month on who, how much and the other important numbers, I still need to go through and manually check each participant for their rep score, power down status, and account standing.
Back when @streetstyle first started this initiative, I seem to recall his rationale for picking the 5th as the official results day was to give him enough time to check the numbers, while keeping it as close to the 1st as possible, so sponsors could have enough time to cancel delegations from the previous month before sending out new ones.
Now that we have more than just delegation prizes, and the accounts awarding them have more HP wiggle room (I'm assuming anyway...lol), I don't think bumping the date out will cause any issues. And since I can't think of any other effective way of confirming each account meets the criteria, having a couple of extra days is really necessary at this point.
If any of my prize sponsors have any concerns about the change in the time frame, please shout out either here or on Discord, and I'll see what I can figure out.
But as of now for this month and for the foreseeable future...
NEW Hive Power Up Day Timeline
◾️ Power up Hive on the 1st of the month
◾️ Post about your power up on the 1st of the month
◾️ Unofficial winners list will be posted on the 5th or 6th (allowing time to correct for errors/omissions)
◾️ Official winners list will be posted on the 7th, after which sponsors will disperse prizes
To be honest, I'm actually very happy to be having this issue. I mean, lots more people are participating in Power Up Day - how could I complain about that? And I'm crossing my fingers that this problem is something I continue to have for many more months to come! 😂
I'm planning to be finished with the unofficial results by later today/tonight, but I'm not promising, as that seems to invite the Universe to prove me wrong. There's also a fair chance it might be tomorrow, just so everyone is aware.
