Anti-Democrats

A much better title for the Republican Party would be the Anti-Democrats. Not just because they are the opposition to the Democratic Party, but because they genuinely are opposed to democracy itself.

Anyone who follows American politics knows this: the greater the voter turnout, the greater the chances are that the Democrats will win. You see, where the Democrats are generally seen as the party that caters to minorities and vulnerable groups, the demographics that are protected under anti-discrimination legislation, the Republicans cater to their very own single minority: the opulent, the mostly white and mostly male wealthy people who don't want their privileged positions in society threatened in any way, shape or form. Political engagement in any form, including the act of casting a vote, is traditionally the the game of white males; it took years of struggle to include females and blacks in the game some rich white males still think is theirs.

If I got ten dollars for every time an American conservative reminded me that America is a republic, and not a democracy, when talking about the degradation of American democracy, I'd be a rich man by now. These people, who don't even know how they foolishly vote against their own self-interest by voting Republican, look down on democracy and ask if I want "mob rule" instead of "the republic". Yes, I want mob rule, I want a democracy. And if you don't, you're the fool, not I. The GOP is the party that does anything in their power to impede the democratic process and to prevent as much people as possible from voting, with a special interest in stopping the black vote. This should be common knowledge really, but seeing how many working class and colored people are still duped into voting Republican, it can't be.

I'll remind you all that winning the elections without winning the popular vote is accomplished by Republican presidents exclusively, with the latest examples being Bush and Trump. This is thanks to the electoral college, a system in which citizens of densely populated states literally have less representation when it comes to electing the President and Vice President. This is why elections in countries that still use this antiquated system, from a time when women and blacks weren't yet allowed to vote, like America and Great Britain, always revolve around "swing states" instead of around the will of the people. But there are many more methods of skewing the vote in favor of the GOP, like gerrymandering, voter registration, limiting the number of polling stations (especially in black neighborhoods) and so on; watch the below linked video for a fair and balanced overview of how the Republicans wage war against democracy.
