This post will be short, and I'd like to make a disclaimer first: there are millions of people who identify as Jewish all over the world, as well as in Israel, and anything said in this post or in the linked video is to be regarded as criticism of the Israeli government and their right wing supporters. This should be obvious; I don't have a grudge against Jewish people, I'm not a racist nor am I anti Semitic. But... It's also obvious that propaganda by the Israeli government as well as the American government have pushed critics of the Israeli government into a corner that necessitates they ALWAYS include this disclaimer; they treat such critics as anti Semitic, smear them as racists, accuse them of supporting terrorism against Israeli citizens, when none of that is true. It is NEVER okay to judge a population by their leadership, because no population is a monolith. Just like Americans weren't all fascist under Trump, not all Israelis or Jews are fascist under Benjamin (Bibi) Netanyahu.
Having said that, you're about to see some horrible opinions from Israeli citizens in the included video. The every day Israeli citizens are fascists, Jewish supremacists. They freely say what government officials only think; all Palestinians need to move out of their country, or worse. This is called "ethnic cleansing" or "genocide", and these people talk about it as if they were discussing the weather. They are so convinced that this land is rightfully theirs that they're even surprised at the push-back coming from the international community, they don't understand why the UN speak of "occupied territories" because it's theirs and the Arabs are the invaders. One of the interviewed Israeli says that Arabs shouldn't complain about occupation, shouldn't be surprised that Jews came back after 1400 years of absence to claim their land back. Stunning. Just stunning.
In the video only one Israeli identifies as left wing, and he says that it's "not a good thing" to be called left wing in his country. And his leftism amounts to fully backing the occupation, with just one addendum: it should be carried out "more humane". If that's representative of leftism in Israel, I agree with the human rights activist in the video: there is no left wing in Israel. But that brings me to another disclaimer: I don't know, I can't know how representative of the Israeli population the selection of interviewees is. The reporter, Abby Martin, is and, as far as I know, has always been pro Palestinian. I wouldn't say that I'm for either side in this conflict: all people deserve to live a quiet, peaceful life, and I condemn the terrorism from both sides. I am however anti Israeli government and strongly oppose their Jewish supremacist fascist policies.
