Hello friends of this beautiful community Ladies of Hive, once again I am with you encouraged to participate in the weekly initiative that this time our friend @priyanarc makes us reflect through various topics that you can find here.
I am pleased to participate by answering the question: What travel destination has impacted you the most, and why?
This question has motivated me a lot because it has made me remember very nice moments of my life where I had to grow as a person to face a great challenge and come out successful and happy with the goals accomplished.
It was 1992 and as part of my professional improvement I won a scholarship to study a master's degree in Biotechnology in Holland, in the city of Wageningen, for only one year because, although the duration of the course was 2 years, they validated the subjects that I had already passed in my country, but there were some complex subjects that I had to study alone with books in English. My mother tongue is Spanish; my English was very basic so I had to make an effort to pass everything.
Something that caught my attention is that all the people spoke English as their second language, that helped me to communicate in the street and the classes were all in English, I only learned a few words in Dutch which is their language, I did not have enough time to study it and it was very difficult for me.
Also, in my course there were students from different countries in Europe and Africa so we spoke in English. This was a big challenge that I had to overcome.

Hola amigos de esta hermosa comunidad Ladies of Hive, otra vez estoy junto a ustedes animada a participar en la iniciativa semanal que en esta ocasión nuestra amiga @priyanarc nos hace reflexionar a través de varios temas que pueden encontrar aqui.
Me complace participar respondiendo la pregunta: ¿Qué destino de viaje le ha impactado más y por qué?
Esta pregunta me ha motivado mucho porque me ha hecho recordar momentos de mi vida muy bonitos donde tuve que crecerme como persona para enfrentar un gran desafío y salir airosa y feliz con las metas cumplidas.
Corría el año 1992 y como parte de mi superación profesional gané una beca para estudiar la maestría en Biotecnología en Holanda, en la ciudad de Wageningen, por solo un año ya que, aunque la duración del curso era de 2 años, me convalidaron las asignaturas que ya había pasado en mi país, pero hubo algunas asignaturas complejas que tuve que estudiar sola con los libros en inglés. Mi lengua materna es el español, mi inglés era muy básico por lo que tuve que esforzarme para lograr aprobarlo todo.
Algo que me llamó mucho la atención es que todas las personas hablaban el inglés como su segunda lengua, eso me ayudó a comunicarme en la calle y las clases todas eran en inglés, solo aprendí algunas palabras en neerlandés que es su idioma, no tenía suficiente tiempo para estudiarlo y me resultaba muy difícil. Además, en mi curso había estudiantes de diferentes países de Europa y África por lo que hablábamos en inglés. Este fue un gran reto que hube de superar.
Another thing that struck me was the weather, there you can enjoy all the seasons of the year, the length of the days and nights depends on the season, I remember that in April it was dark at 10 pm and dawn at 4 am, then the difference became less as the summer approached.
Autumn is beautiful, the leaves of the trees are turning beautiful colors and you can see a variety of colors between oranges, yellows and greens, it is a unique visual spectacle, the leaves also begin to fall and form a beautiful carpet.
Then comes winter which is the most difficult stage for me, I remember being in the lab at 4 pm and seeing the moon in the middle of the night through the window. Oh and the snow, what a beautiful sight!
Although it only snowed very few times, it was the warmest year I was told, I brought the tropical heat haha.
Another of the challenges I overcame was to ride a bicycle, I had learned as a child, but I did not practice it. The first thing I did when I arrived was to buy a bicycle, at the university there was a place where they sold bicycles for use and when the student left they could sell it and so the cycle was repeated with other new students.
I loved cycling to all the places in the city, I remember that on weekends I would go shopping, I would put a saddlebag on the bike and I would go to all the stores and markets I needed, I would always leave the bike outside the store with the previous purchases in the saddlebag and I never lost anything, it is so nice to live like that where there is respect for everything.
Otra de las cosas que me impactó fue el clima, ahí se pueden disfrutar de todas las estaciones del año, la duración de los días y las noches depende de la estación del año, recuerdo que en abril oscurecía a las 10 pm y amanecía a las 4 am, luego la diferencia se hacía menor a medida que se acercaba el verano.
El otoño es precioso, las hojas de los árboles se van tornando de colores hermosos y puedes ver una gran variedad de colores entre naranjas, amarillos y verdes, es un espectáculo visual único, las hojas también empiezan a caer y forman una bella alfombra.
Luego llega el invierno que es la etapa más difícil para mí, recuerdo estar en el laboratorio a las 4 pm y ver la luna en plena noche a través de la ventana. Ah y la nieve! ¡Qué espectáculo hermoso! Aunque solo nevó muy pocas veces, fue el año más cálido según me dijeron, yo les llevé el calor tropical jaja.
También otro de los retos que superé fue andar en bicicleta, yo había aprendido de niña, pero no lo practicaba. Lo primero que hice cuando llegué fue adquirir una bicicleta, en la universidad había un local donde vendían las bicicletas de uso y cuando el estudiante se iba la podía vender y así se repetía el ciclo con otros nuevos estudiantes.
Me encantaba ir en bicicleta a todos los lugares dentro de la ciudad, recuerdo que los fines de semana iba de compras, le ponía una alforja a la bicicleta y recorría todas las tiendas y mercado que necesitaba, siempre dejaba la bici afuera de la tienda con las compras anteriores en la alforja y nunca perdí nada, es tan bonito vivir así donde hay respeto por todo.
I loved to know Holland, its tulips are beautiful and there are varieties of all colors, windmills adorn the fields, the abundance of canals that are a symbol of the country, give a picturesque touch to the landscape and its architecture is really beautiful.
It was a very enriching experience that I am very grateful to have lived. As you can imagine the climate and customs are very different from my country, but I adapt to any environment, I like to learn and apply in my life the new knowledge acquired.
The most valuable thing was to meet great friends who always gave me their support and their beautiful friendship that we still keep. With them I learned the customs of Portugal, Mozambique, Brazil, Mexico and Suriname. With them I shared both the study and the hours of enjoyment that are also very necessary.
Me encantó conocer Holanda, sus tulipanes son hermosos y hay variedades de todos los colores, los molinos de viento adornan los campos, la abundancia de canales que son un símbolo del país, le dan un toque pintoresco al paisaje y su arquitectura es realmente preciosa.
Fue una experiencia muy enriquecedora que agradezco mucho haber vivido. Como pueden imaginar el clima y las costumbres son muy diferentes a las de mi país, pero yo me adapto a cualquier entorno, me gusta aprender y aplicar en mi vida los nuevos conocimientos adquiridos.
Lo más valioso fue conocer a grandes amigos que siempre me brindaron su apoyo y su hermosa amistad que aún conservamos. Con ellos aprendí las costumbres de Portugal, Mozambique, Brasil, México y Surinam. Con ellos compartía tanto el estudio como las horas de disfrute que son también muy necesarias.
This has been the trip that has impacted me the most from every point of view, I had to adapt and overcome many challenges to finally return with the desired Master of Science degree and a great spiritual growth.

Este ha sido el viaje que más me ha impactado desde todo punto de vista, tuve que adaptarme y superar muchos desafíos para al final regresar con el título de Master en Ciencias deseado junto con un gran crecimiento espiritual.
