Dean EVO

This is my EVO, by dean. Many moons ago, I lived in a house downtown, with my band. Somewhere along the line, that house was robbed, and they cleaned out our cash savings and all our instruments.

This was a hard situation to rise above, but we had to find a way. I scraped up what money I could for a couple weeks, and my parents actually helped me cover where I felt short - this conveniently timed out with my 23rd birthday.

The Case

Looking back at this old case, it looks like a relic from a different life.

Accessories & Artifacts

The trombone player in our band (Running from Roscoe at the time, later changed to Hot Ice Cream after a few members left and we had to reform) was also a metallurgist and jeweler, and he made this pick ring for me.

I got the little wooden hand at a thrift store in some small town while we were touring around. I remember getting it for $1-2, and sticking it in my case, anxious to get home to bring my intentions to fruition - and within a few days, I’d found some screws and mounted the hand in my case. I had to wrap a rubber band around one of the fingers to keep the ring from falling off in transit.

In the compartment beneath the headstock, I found the set list from the last show we played - fond memories :)

By the time we stopped, we were playing sets made up almost entirely of original songs; apetu wastelo!

Dean EVO

This guitar wound up being a little heavier than what I was used to. That meant two things to me at the time. First and foremost, our usual 3-4 hour jam set would begin to wear on me faster than they did with my old guitar. But on the positive side, the sustain. The sustain on this guitar is phenomenal.

And finally, of course the wood grain and fine craftsmanship come together in this guitar to forge a union which is nothing short of a work of art in itself.

Thanks for checking out another one of my instruments! As always, I hope you enjoyed witnessing as much as I enjoyed creating!
