Path Of Exile | The Cluster Of Loot And Cities

pure insanity.jpg

The next hundred-plus depths I'd end up going down ended up being quite an insane journey. There were clusters of cities, fossils, and loot drops. While I'd get killed a few times the loot alone was more than worthwhile. I was also breaking into my new sword at the time.

The pure insanity that was occurring on my screen with my new weapon was just insane. Not to mention the deeper I go in Delve the denser the pack of creatures I was fighting became.

Sometimes my screen would lag out for a brief moment with everything going on. This was always a concern that a short moment was all that the creatures needed to kill me. Many times, I could not even tell where things were on the screen. I just held down the attack button and waited till the fire leaping around my screen would stop once there was nothing left to take out.

The game seemed to be wasting no time in allowing me to quickly rebuild my currency stack to at least something usable once again. There seemed to be quite an insane period where I ended up looting another eight Valdo’s Puzzle Boxes.

It was so tempting to open these boxes myself and hope for some huge item drop. I decided however that I was selling them for more than enough and I was getting so many anyway. If I changed my mind I could start to open them.

Oddly enough much deeper a week later those Puzzle boxes that have been dropping like rain would dry up. I was at least thankful to get the large amount of them I did when I did. They were quite critical in being able to afford my sword and many other gear upgrades I had acquired for the building I was using in Delve.

Prices were also quite sky-high at the time. Orbs I was looting from Maven were going for around 180 Chaos Orbs and The Puzzle boxes I was selling for around 217 Chaos Orbs. Hollow fossils I was listing for three for two Divine Orbs.

Needless to say, the in-game currency exchange I'll be quite sad if they don’t find a way to add it into the core game. It has saved me so much time in not needing to go trade a person manually to buy or sell any of these items.

I’ve always hated having to stop what I'm doing in the game to respond to a message from someone wanting to buy items from me. It always breaks the stride I'm in. Even more so If I'm in the middle of Delve and it could be a while before I'm to clear the node I'm working on and teleport to the surface to trade someone an item.

For a while now I've been wanting to find some insane city outpost cluster down in Delve. Not all of this one ended up fitting on the entire screen. I ended up going right through the middle just to see how far west it ended. I then went further south to see how far down it went.

Since my main focus was getting to 1k depth I decided to leave the cities behind for the time being. It would have been one thing if they contained the “may contain unusual chests.” They however did not.

Around depth 720 I ended up coming across another large city. This one seemed to be mostly connected. At the time I was just chasing after a molten cavity node to get the fossil from it.

I ended up lucking out and finding quite a few worthwhile fossil nodes to chase after in the area. I ended up pulling out over a dozen fossils in total. There were so many I ended up having to go back and farm more sulfate before being able to get them all.

I then ended up going back to some other areas once I started to notice a certain pattern of how fossil clusters can form. That ended up being quite a lucky night. A couple of nodes in either direction around some other spots where I had already found a few fossils would end up leaning me to a couple more in each spot.

Some of these spots required me to clear out some lesser fossil nodes. I even ended up looting a few shuddering fossils. While these were not going to sell for 60-150 Chaos Orbs during peak prices like the fossils I was after. They more than made up the time spent needing to go through those spots anyway.

I was also now back to having 30 Divine Orbs after all the clusters of loot, cities, and fossils I ended up finding. It would not be long before I'd spend it on another upgrade. After a while, the power and ease getting a new sword gave me would soon fade. I’d have to go back to skipping over certain nodes and even going sideways a bit in Delve just to find a safer path to descend.

It is kind of mind-blowing just how much a small upgrade ends up costing me. They are however quite needed. Even gaining an item with 50 more health would end up saving me quite a few deaths making it easier to press further down.

While it was quite quick and easy at this point to just earn more sulfate and attempt a node a couple of times if I ended up getting killed. I’d rather not have to spend the time doing so.

After a while the insane luck of all the clusters I was finding faded. While I was hoping it would be something that would have kept going on since I was getting quite deep at this point. It seems for a short while my luck had run out.

Final Thoughts

While it felt like ages the amount of time now spent in Delve this league has been insane. I was about to hit 800 depths. While the remaining 200 depth would become quite the challenge, I felt at the time I was at least making some decent progress.

It is also insane moments like these where I have so much fun playing a game like Path of Exile. At some point, I'll stop spending on upgrades and start saving up to make some other alts and do some other stuff this league once I reach my goal of 1k depth in Delve.
