I Tried Water Propagation of House Plants

It's normal practice to grow new houseplants from cuttings. I usually cut off a healthy section of a stem, then put it in a growing medium, like a growth hormone, to encourage the growth of roots and plant it straight in the ground or pot.

I had trouble propagating some of my indoor plants the usual or traditional way, so I tried water propagation!

I experimented on two Chinese Money Plant and three whatchamacallit plants.

I had them growing for four weeks or so.

I would change the water every week, and watch the roots grow. They were positioned in the dining table where there is relatively bright, but away from direct sunlight.

And when it was time (and I could attend to it), I put them in soil!

I thought to myself... "WOW! That was easy! Why don't I try other plants."

So, I picked plants I had difficulty propagating, which were practically all my indoor plants.

I could do five plants at a time, which was good,
because I hardy have time for anything!

That was two weeks ago.

Look at the plants today!

Water propagation is easy!

First, I took plant cuttings and submerged them in water. Then I waited for the roots to form before transferring them into pots. It can be satisfying and educational to observe the roots as they grow using water propagation. I found it simple to maintain the cutting's moisture content, which is advantageous for delicate cuttings.

Plants that require drier soil may not be well suited for water propagation, and some plants may be vulnerable to root rot if submerged in water for extended periods of time.

I know most of you know about water propagation and probably utilize it already. But I am new to it, and I'm pretty excited about it!
