Steven Paul Jobs was born in San Francisco, California, US in 1955-February-24.
He died of pancratic cancer in 2011-October-5 in Palo Alto, Califirnia, US.
Steve Jobs was a pioneer in personal computer technology, helping to bring computers to the masses.
Steve Jobs is known primarily as a co-founder of Apple and for his two stints with the company, the second of which featured products such as iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Ealier technology products included the Apple II series computers, the Macintosh, and the Lisa.
Before he and Stephen Wozniak produced the Apple I computer in 1976, Steve Jobs had worked at Atari Corporation as a video game designer. Between his first and second tours at Apple, founded NeXT Inc., a computer company oriented toward high-end WYSIWYG Unix workstations for educational markets such as universities. While at NeXT Inc., he also acquired a controlling interest in computer graphics company Pixar (itself founded by George Lucas as a division of Lucasfilm Limited).
He was also a marketing genius, as demonstrated by the fact that although he didn't make the first of any products, he knew how to promote the products he was selling. The legendary television commercial introducing the world to the Macintosh computer set the standard for all marketing events going forward.
