For the great doesn't happen through impulse alone, and is a succession of little things that are brought together.

About the Quote

Pharaoh Ramses II is known to have said "So it is written, so it is done." Sadly, anything done by human beings doesn't happen that quickly. Championships are won a play at a time. Motion pictures are made one frame at a time. Buildings are built brick by brick. For most holders of Bitcoin, each BTC is earned one Satoshi at a time.

Whatever we want to accomplish, it requires building blocks to be placed or essential steps in method to be followed. This takes time, and one missing building block or step can be enough for failure to be realized rather than success. Failure itself is part of the process of achieving success or greatness; think of the butterfly struggling to free itself from the cocoon containing it.

Once the building blocks are in place, or all the required steps have been followed, then we can see the final results later when we reach our goals.

Some Information about Vincent van Gogh

Vincent Willem van Gogh was born in Zundert, The Netherlands on 1853-March-30. He died in Auvers-sur-Oise (near Paris), France on 1890-July-29.

Among Dutch painters throughout history, only Rembrandt van Rijn is considered greater. Van Gogh is also considered among the greatest painters in the Post-Impressionist style.

As with many famous artists known to us, van Gogh's art became popular after his death.

Van Gogh's popularity as an artist is as much due to the letters he had written as it is to his paintings. These letters essentially defined the prototype of the tortured artist.

When he was 16, van Gogh became an apprentice to Goupil and Company, a group of art dealers of which his uncle was a partner. Goupil & Co. had several branches throughout Europe, including at The Hague in the Netherlands. Van Gogh worked for Goupil & Co. from 1869 to 1876:

  • 1869 to 1873 -- The Hague
  • 1873 to May 1875 -- London
  • May 1875 to April 1876 -- Paris
