Index4INDEX Card 225: Dominique Moceanu 1

It's human nature to be timid in the face of obstacles, but I have learned to believe that challenges are opportunities for genius to shine.

-- Dominique Moceanu

About the Quote

It's OK to be afraid when facing an unfamiliar challenge. What matters is that we face the unfamiliar challenge with faith in our abilities (and in a Higher Power if that's how we're inclined) and trust in our preparation. We do our best and take it from there. We may even surprise ourselves and triumph over that unfamiliar challenge very easily, but we won't know that until after.

It's also OK to be afraid when facing a familiar challenge. In this case, we know what we're dealing with, so we know how to prepare for it. However, it is then our responsibility to be prepared. If we're ill-prepared and then we fail, we have ourselves to blame for that failure. If we're prepared, then we can have clear consciences when the challenge is over.

Either way, obstacles are opportunities for us to see how far we have progressed in our development. These challenges are also opportunities for us to excel and to show the world what we can do. In that sense, we can use obstacles as marketing tools to make people aware of us and what we can do.
