When I heard about this movie the first thing I thought of was how iconic it would be to have so many stars together. Few films are lucky enough to be starring such a large group of Hollywood personalities but I expected nothing less from this production. Oceans has become one of the most lucrative movie franchises with 4 sequels to its credit so it was about time they made a female version of this film once starring George Clooney.
Ocean's 8 is a film released in 2018 by the film company Warner Bros. Pictures produced by Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney that has a duration of 1 hour 50 minutes filled from start to finish with a lot of glamor and fun.

Cuando supe de esta película lo primero que pensé es en lo icónico que sería tener a tantas estrellas juntas. Es que pocas películas tienen la suerte de estar esteralizadas por un grupo tan grande de personalidades hollywoodenses, así que no esperaba menos de esta producción. Oceans se ha convertido en una de las franquicias más lucrativas del cine con 8 secuelas en su haber, así que ya era hora de que hicieran la versión femenina de este film en otrora protagonizado por George Clooney.
Ocean's 8 o las Estafadoras en español es una película lanzada en 2018 por la compañía cinematográfica Warner Bros. Pictures producida por Steven Soderbergh y George Clooney, la cual cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 50 minutos, llenos de principio a fin de mucho glamur y diversión.
The story of Oceans 8 begins when Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) is released from prison where she was locked up for 5 years, after being betrayed by her partner Claude Becker (Richard Armitage) in this time Debby will design the perfect plan to commit the robbery of the century by stealing a necklace from the fashion house Cartier called The Toussaint valued at more than 150 million dollars, in the most exclusive fashion event in the world: The Met Gala. For this she will need the help of 7 women specialists in different areas the first of them Lou (Cate Blanchet) Debby's former partner in robbery who works diluting vodka and an accomplished thief, Rose Weil (Helena Bonham Carter) a bankrupt dressmaker in charge of dressing the main star of the Gala Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) who will wear the Toussaint, jewelry specialist Amita (Mindy Kaling), a hacker named nine-ball (Rihanna), a watch thief named Contansce (Awkwafina) and mass theft expert Tammy (Sarah Paulson).
The film features James Corden as investigator John Frazier and cameos from luminaries from all disciplines including Kim Kardashian, Anna Wintour, Serena Williams, Heidi Klum, Gigi Hadid, Dee and Tommy Hilfiger, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Adriana Lima, Sofia Richie, Lauren Santo Domingo and others.
La historia de Oceans 8 comienza cuando Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) sale de la cárcel donde estuvo encerrada durante 5 años, después de ser traicionada por su pareja Claude Becker (Richard Armitage) en este tiempo Debby diseñara el plan perfecto para cometer el robo del siglo robando un collar de la casa de moda Cartier llamado El Toussaint valorado en más de 150 millones de dólares, en el evento de modas más exclusivo del mundo: La Met Gala. Para esto necesitara la ayuda de 7 mujeres especialistas en distintas áreas la primera de ellas Lou (Cate Blanchet) antigua compañera de robos de Debby que trabaja diluyendo vodka y una ladrona consumada, Rose Weil (Helena Bonham Carter) una modista en bancarrota encargada de vestir a la estrella pricipal de la Gala Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) quien lucirá el Toussaint, la especialista en joyería Amita (Mindy Kaling) , una hacker llamada bola nueve (Rihanna), una ladrona de relojes llamada Contansce (Awkwafina) y la experta en robos masivos Tammy (Sarah Paulson).
La película incluye la interpretación de James Corden como el investigador John Frazier y cameos de luminarias de todas las disciplinas entre ellas Kim kardashian, Anna Wintour, Serena Williams, Heidi Klum, Gigi Hadid, Dee y Tommy Hilfiger, Kendall y Kylie Jenner, Adriana Lima, Sofia Richie, Lauren Santo Domingo entre otros.
Together they will pull off the perfect heist, scapegoating the traitor Claude Becker. With the motto of not accepting men "because they (men) get noticed, they (women) get ignored" the film is perfect for celebrating femininity and the power of women. I loved that it was a group of iconic women calling the shots.
As with the other films in the Oceans saga that are set in Las Vegas and directed by Steven Soderbergh, this one spends some time getting the perfect team for the heist but this time from New York. The results are surprisingly poor and the story is by far what it is in its first 3 installments was, of course that depending on the effectiveness of each actress in making the script something better.
Juntas llevaran a cabo el robo perfecto, sacrificando como chivo expiatorio al traidor de Claude Becker. Con el lema de no aceptar hombres “porque a ellos los notan, a ellas las ignoran” la película es perfecta por celebrar la feminidad y el poder de las mujeres. Me encantó que fuera un grupo de mujeres icónicas las que llevaran las riendas.
Al igual que en las otras películas de la saga de Oceans, que están ambientadas en Las Vegas y dirigidas por Steven Soderbergh, en esta se dedica un tiempo a conseguir al equipo perfecto para el robo, solo que esta vez será en Nueva York. Los resultados son sorprendentemente deficientes y la historia es de lejos lo que fue en sus 3 primeras entregas, claro eso dependió mucho de la eficacia de cada actriz a la hora de hacer del guión algo mejor.
Another thing I would like to mention is the couture show at the fictitious night of the Met Gala seemed exquisite yes, but too normal for a show that is known for its extravagance. It is precisely this point that was missed considering that they had figures like Rihanna who has been iconic every time she has made an appearance at the event. I imagined something more spectacular on a night with the theme of Jewels of the royal houses of all time.
A storyline involving Debbie's ex's revenge for her betrayal (a hunky Richard Armitage who looks like a victim and not the bad guy) is surprisingly too simple despite its great cast, and by the time James Corden arrives as the insurance company investigator at the end, it almost feels like the male comic superhero who has come to rescue what's left of the movie, it's unfortunate that it didn't have more sustenance especially wasting such important figures in the artistic milieu.
Otra cosa que me gustaría mencionar es el desfile de alta costura en la ficticia noche de de la Met Gala me pareció exquisito sí, pero demasiado normal para un desfile que se conoce por su extravagancia. Es precisamente este punto el que desaprovecharon teniendo en cuenta que contaban con figuras como Rihanna que ha sido iconica cada vez que ha hecho presencia en el evento. Me imaginaba algo más espectacular en una noche con la temática de Joyas de las casas reales de todos los tiempos.
Una historia que implicaba la venganza del ex de Debbie por su traición (un Richard Armitage guapísimo que parece la víctima y no el malo) es sorpresivamente muy simple a pesar de su gran elenco, y para cuando James Corden llega como investigador de la compañía de seguros en el final, casi parece ser el superhéroe cómico masculino que ha venido a rescatar lo que queda de la película, es lamentable que la trama no tuviera más sustento sobretodo malgastando a figuras tan importantes en el medio artístico.
But Cate Blanchett's character's gift for dealing with people and her constant sense of sarcasm and cynicism are also entertaining. Once the other girls join in, the team shows great chemistry throughout the film with plenty of witty dialogue that will bring a smile to your face.
Of course, the best moments of the movie are undoubtedly Anne Hathaway's as the eager, vain and capricious star, she always seems to look perfect no matter what I love her. She is almost uniquely successful combination of comedy and pathos: a victim of the celebrity routine who is also able to make fun of herself. Another one I loved was Helena Bonham Carter who I didn't know she spoke perfect French, it's always good to see her on screen for her impeccable performances. But I'm not going to lie to you, for me they were all good, I loved them all, especially the costumes, what a great thing.
Pero el don de tratar con la gente del personaje de Cate Blanchett y su constante sentido del sarcasmo y el cinismo también son entretenidos. Una vez que las otras chicas se unen, el equipo muestra una gran química durante toda la película con muchos diálogos ingeniosos que te sacaran una sonrisa.
Eso sí, los mejores momentos de la película sin lugar a dudas son de Anne Hathaway en su papel de estrella ansiosa, vanidosa y caprichosa ella siempre parece estar perfecta haga lo que haga, la amo. Es casi la única combinación exitosa de comedia y patetismo: una víctima de la rutina de las celebridades que también es capaz de burlarse de sí misma. Otra que me encantó fue Helena Bonham Carter que no sabía hablaba un perfecto francés, siempre es bueno verla en pantalla por sus impecables interpretaciones. Pero no les voy a mentir para mi todas estuvieron bien, las amé a todas sobretodo el vestuario ¡que cosa más grandiosa!.
It may not have taken off as much as its predecessors but as far as music goes it was perfect, its soundtrack is something I would listen to every day without any problem. I've seen Oceans 8 about 10 times and can't get enough of it but at the same time I look at every movie with a critical and objective eye even though I'm not going to lie to you I could care less about the shortcomings of this movie.
Puede que no haya despegado tanto como sus predecesoras pero en cuanto a música estuvo perfecta, su banda sonora es algo que yo escucharía a diario sin ningún problema. He visto Oceans 8 como unas 10 veces y no me canso de verlas, pero al mismo tiempo miro cada película con un ojo crítico y objetivo aunque no les voy a mentir poco me importan las deficiencias de esta película.
It's always good to see a bunch of women taking over the big screen, so don't be left behind and if you haven't seen Oceans 8, it's time you did. By the way for me it's a 7/10 and for you guys?
Siempre es bueno ver a un grupo de mujeres apoderándose de la gran pantalla, así que no se queden atrás y si no se han visto Oceans 8, es hora de que lo hagan. Por cierto para mí es un 7/10 ¿y para ustedes?
