Rafael was becoming restless by the second, his phone was ringing nonstop and it was becoming irritating with every voice that echoed through the phone reminding him of the fact that he was already late for his late father's memorial ceremony. The office ambience was beginning to feel like a prison and his assistant, like a warden in her jean jacket and skirt.

He looked around and noticed his phone beep again with a message that had a tone of finality and curse. He immediately grabbed his briefcase and dashed out of the office almost shoving his assistant in the process and barking "cancel my appointments for the rest of the day".

"But sir......." she tried to counter. But he was already out the door and could only faintly hear mute murmurs behind him. He slid down the stairs hastily and as he turned the corner at the foot of the stairs to enter the office reception section, he ran into a lady and sent her files and its contents sprawling on the floor.

"Oh I'm sorry" he exclaimed, stooping to gather the papers

"Sorry? Are you blind?" the lady retorted angrily

"What? It was just an honest mistake" he replied looking up at the visibly irritated lady.

"Mistake my foot" the lady lashed out again

"Okay potty mouth" Rafael retorted standing up straight "pick them up yourself" he added, dropping the papers back on the floor and strolling out of the hall, taking a peep at his phone which had started ringing again. It was already getting late and he knew he had to rush to meet up with the program.

He jumped into his car and sped off in the direction of his paternal home. He got there, got tongue lashed by the whole family who seemed to have gathered together with a pre-planned agenda of throwing him to the wolves. He endured the process, went back to his house and called the office that he's taking two days off to clear his head.

Two days later in his office getting exhausted from having to clear up the files that had piled up on his table. Tidying up his table as he prepared to go for his lunch break, his office door creaked open and without looking up he started talking to his secretary

"Esther please pause on all my appointments for the next one hour, I'm going for my lunch break" he started

"I'm sorry sir, I was supposed to see you now" the lady replied

"Sorry? Are you blind or you missed your way?" Rafael hit out at the lady as he came to the knowledge of the person in his office.

"It must have been an honest mistake" the lady started again visibly embarrassed by the situation. "Your secretary said I could come in after the last lady" she added looking at the floor

"Mistake my foot" Rafael lashed out again

The lady looked up immediately at Rafael with a twinkle in her eyes that was confusing. One could barely tell if she was about to cry or lash back.

"I see what you're doing sir" she started "and I apologize for my actions the other day. It just wasn't a good day and I came out after you to apologize, but you had already sped off" she concluded.

"Apology not accepted. What can I do for you?" Rafael replied looking away from her and grabbing his wallet from his drawer.

"I came to interview for the vacant accountant position" the lady replied

"Okay, as you can see I was on my way out for my lunch break. So it's either you come back tomorrow, or you join me for lunch so I can check your files"

"Okay sir, I'll join you" she said excitedly

"Okay, but bills on you as an opportunity for a proper apology." Rafael added at which point she just nodded an affirmation.

At the restaurant while eating, Rafael dived into the mind of the mystery lady and they talked about everything except the work she came for. Rafael was becoming engrossed by her personality and company. She was beautiful with a mysterious sparkle in her eyes. She was brilliant and smart. That was when Rafael knew that he did not want her as his accountant but as something more.

So he kept inviting her for more dates with the pretense of giving her a reply for her application. But instead of talking about the job, they would always end up talking about other things and then Rafael would lie that the board hasn't given him their full backing yet.

Eventually he popped the question and she accepted. Rafael had already gotten her a job at his friend's company and was only waiting for confirmation from him before telling her. Few months later, they got married and Rafael has marked the date 12th June as the most important date of his life. The day he lost his father and the same day he met his soul mate.
