The wizard of the forest

The wizard of the forest

In the depths of a dense forest dwells a young wizard who was not very good at magic, in fact, in the wizarding world he is one of the worst.

He read all the books in his library but he did not improve, he started to walk through the forest, he studied and observed nature but nothing helped him to improve his spells.

On her way she met a princess who, as expected, was in danger. A huge wild boar had cornered her in the roots of a large tree.

"Hey wizard, help me," cried the princess when she saw him"

The wizard's first reaction was to flee but he paused to consider whether or not to help her and a cry of desperation brought him out of his distraction to come to her aid, he cast the only combat spell he knew, the boar and the princess looked at him expectantly and from a cloud of smoke he summoned a small fly that flew slowly to the beast's snout and with one blow killed the insect.

The boar's eyes, which glowed like fire, changed their focus, its fury increased and it charged at the wizard. The princess who is now behind the beast picks up a stone and throws it at the boar, the animal does not manage to hurt the wizard, on the contrary it flees, the wizard looks doubtfully at the princess and asks:

"Did my fly spell hurt the boar?"

"Your fly?... no nothing like that, the stone hit him in the weakest place that every male creature has"

"Oh, what luck we have had, and what are you doing a princess in such a dreary place?" asked the magician.

"My people are dying of a rare disease, in this forest there is a flower that heals everything and I took the initiative to come and look for it"

The wizard who knew the forest made an agreement with her. They would walk together until they found the flower.

Several days of walking passed until one day among the rocks of a mountain was the plant that the princess was looking for, she took a small shovel out of her bag and dug it up very carefully without damaging it, but it lacked a little water, the wizard told her in good faith:

"I know a spell that can dampen the earth"

"I would really appreciate it," replied the princess.

And the magician raised his hands to produce a small stream, but instead of water the evil eye, which is a spell that sometimes comes out unintentionally, fell on the plant and it withered.

They both put their hands on their heads and had no choice but to watch as the only healing plant withered to death.

The poor wizard was sad and frustrated, he tried so hard but his magic was useless. He bent his neck and said:

"I've worked so hard to fail every time"

The princess had no choice but to return empty handed so the wizard decided to escort her to her kingdom, it was the least he could do for her, when he arrived the wizard noticed something, the river had some rocks that uncovered the edge of some metals that he already knew.

"Do you drink this water?" asked the wizard.

"We recently started consuming it" replied the princess.

"Do not drink from here, this river is polluted"

The princess and her mother, the queen, were very grateful and awarded him the title of best magician. He continued his research and was of great use to the village.

In the end there was no need for the medicinal plant, the reason for the illness was different and the magician solved it not with his magic but with all the books he read in his attempt to create better spells, making it clear to him that no study is done in vain.
