Gerardo Pérez was a civil engineering student at the UCV - Caracas, a native of the town of Chacopata in the state of Sucre, studying the last subjects of his career, to graduate as an engineer. He was a good person, his professors, when they were collapsed, gave him their secular jobs so that the boy could advance his projects.
He lived rented in a room of 2x2mt, only a single bed of pine wood that matched an old two-door closet with two divisions inside, barely had room for the few clothes that the young student had, he spent all day at the university, at night, when opened his room came out all the smell of pine impregnated.
When he finished his classes, he would go to the drawing room where there were special inclined tables for drawing, he would take an armchair, look for a table and there he would make the plans that his professors asked him for. Those projects somehow gave Gerardo work experience and the money he earned helped him pay the rent.
After graduating he started working in a cafeteria as a waiter, always thinking "I must be patient, at some point some company will hire me".
One morning, in the cafeteria, the boy was preparing the display case to put cheesecakes, croissants and cakes. People were starting to arrive, between the orders they were placing, the smell of bread, sweets and coffee, all mixed together, clouded the atmosphere a little. Suddenly, he heard the thick voice of a man, already over 60 years old, he asked for an espresso, Gerardo approached the electric machine, took out the coffee powder holder, filled it with coffee, put it back in the machine, then placed the medium plastic cup in the machine, When Gerardo went to give the espresso to the customer, he realized it was Professor Tom, one of those who helped him when he was studying engineering, he was explaining "Caobos BYA S. When the engineers were very agitated, with some work, they looked for him to serve as a support, those were the moments when the young man entered the project room where there were 3 drawing tables with three armchairs, the boy opened the furniture and took drawing paper, a graphite pencil, eraser and a large ruler. He would sit and work until go to the first rays of sunlight.
Days went by, Glodys the young receptionist would arrive early to arrange the tables, the work chairs and the rolls of plans in the plan holders that had been left in disarray, she would put water and coffee in the coffee pot, she would turn it on and while the coffee was brewing, she would take the office telephone, press the buttons 4516745, the telephone cable was so long that she could see if the coffee pot had prepared the coffee, while she would call Mr. Tom to bring Gerardo his breakfast.
Many months passed, for Gerardo to see Glodys so dedicated to her work was a wonderful moment, he fell in love with her and she with him, until they became sweethearts. One October 28th, they celebrated the engineer's day, Mr. Heimson sent for a cake, lots of snacks, sodas and wine, that order was brought by Flavio, a boy with a thin build, with a lazy posture, he was Mr. Heimson's son. In the middle of the celebration, Mr. Tom makes a hand signal to Mr. Heimson to make a speech. After a few months Glodys and Gerardo decided to get married. They had a small reception where the parents of the bride and groom, Mr. Tom, Mr. Heimson and Flavio were present. Gerardo had a great joy, since he had tasted the most beautiful moments in his life, working as an engineer and marrying the woman he loved.
