"Gather round children, it's time", grandma said as he picked up his glasses from the old wooden table beside him. They all gathered near the chimney while he sat on his rocking chair. The moonlight collided with the chimney fire causing the perfect night for a story.

"Oh what story do you have for us this time grandpa?", one of the children asked.

"One like never before", he answered with a smile on his face.

"Once upon a time in a far away land lived the chocolate people, they were kind and friendly, each chocolate person had their own houses made of snow and love".

"What's love made of grandpa?", another child interrupted.

"Why it's the strongest material of all, it's what makes everything stand tall", grandpa replied.

"Is our house made of love?", the child asked again.

"Yes, yes it is", he replied with a smile, "shall we continue?".

"Yes!!", the children echoed.

"The chocolate people had one rule, no stranger was allowed to enter their land and no one was allowed to leave because they would melt. For years they lived in peace and harmony until on year, a chocolate wandered off. He wanted to see what the other side of the world was like and paid no heed to warning of the chocolate leaders".

"That's a bad chocolate", one of the children interrupted causing the other children to giggle.

"Bad indeed", grandpa said. "He wandered off far away until he came across a human village. He realized that the temperature was hotter than the one in his land and he started to melt. After a while, he came across a human who offered to help him cool off in the meat house at the other side of the village".

"What he didn't know was that his kind and the humans used to live together until the humans found out how sweet they were and started eating them".

All the children gasped. "Is he in trouble?", one child asked.

"We'll know soon enough", grandpa continued.

"He was cared for by the human. News of his presence spread all over the village until the king demand he was to be brought before the throne. He didn't want to go but the king's guard forcefully carried him to the palace where the king forced him to give up the location of his people".

"If you do not tell us where they are, I will leave you to melt in the dungeon", the king said.

"He did not want to say anything so the guards carried him of and locked him in the dungeon. Later that night, the heard sounds coming from his cell gate, like keys unlocking something. It was his human friend coming to save him. Both of them snuck out of the castle together and didn't stop running until he reached the chocolate people".

"I'm happy they made it out", a child interrupted again.

"I'm happy too", another child added.

"Just as he was about to enter his land, the king showed up with his guards. Everything was a trick was the king to get the location of the chocolate people. They held up their torches ready to fight", grandpa said.

The wood in the chimney fire cracked and the flame rose adding to the dramatic scene in the children's head.

"So what happened next?", the first child asked curiously.

"Just before the king was about to strike, one of the chocolate people hit him with a beam that turned him into a chocolate person himself. If the king wanted to be turned back to a human, he would have to leave them alone but the king wasn't satisfied. After much talk it was decided that every eve of a new year, the chocolate people will supply the human kingdom with enough chocolate to last them a whole year. The king was turned back to a human and the chocolate people kept to their word".

"Everything new years eve, a human goes to collect all the chocolate we need and that's where chocolate come from", grandpa ended the story.

"Woah!!", all the children echoed.

"Does this mean I can meet the chocolate people someday?", one child asked.

"When you're old enough", grandpa replied with a chuckle.

"Okay children, time for bed, let grandpa rest. I'm sure he has more stories to tell you later", aunty called from the living room.

The grandchildren stood up and thanked grandpa for his story, all of them would go to bed that night hoping to meet a chocolate person someday.
