Hello Beautiful Community!

On March 1, we announced a Pot of Gold contest for the month of March. Many of you have been diligently producing themed stories and/or commenting on them — both of which earn contest points. As we slide into the end of March, we'd like to provide some reminders about how to qualify and get points so you can be sure to check over your efforts.

We will be rewarding 5 Hive to the community member with the top points score. (And there may be a little something-something for the top contenders as well!)

Last Call and Final Rules for the March Pot of Gold Game!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, a March holiday, we have been running a month-long contest to highlight all things Irish — shamrocks, leprechauns, green beer, funny green hats, pots of gold at the end of the rainbow, and more.

You can see the original post here and the reminder post here.

As a refresher, you must follow these rules:

  • Write at least one story this month in The Ink Well themed around St. Patty's Day. (2 points per story.) There is no limit to the number of stories you can write to get points, but each one must be a minimum of 750 words.

NOTE: It's not enough to just mention St. Patrick's Day in the story. As stated in the contest rules and reminder post, the story must include shamrocks, leprechauns, pots of gold or other St. Patrick's Day paraphernalia.

  • These stories must be published in The Ink Well in by March 31.
  • You must post a link to your March contest story in the comments of the March 2022 contest post.
  • Go to the stories that are linked in the contest post and comment on those stories. (1 point per comment.)

NOTE: You must write at least three sentences in your comments to qualify.

(Yes, we're strict on these rules. It ensures that people who really put in the effort have the best chance at winning. Thank you for understanding and complying!)

How the contest will be scored:

  1. We will look for all St. Patrick's Day themed stories with a link in the contest post. Each qualifying story will receive 2 points.
  2. We will tally all of the qualifying comments on all of the St. Patrick's Day themed posts linked in the comments of the contest post. Each qualifying comment will receive 1 point.

What Should You Do Now?

If you have entered the contest with a story and/or comments, we suggest the following:

  • Go back to your published stories to make sure they qualify based on the rules above. Feel free to edit them if needed!
  • Make sure your stories for the contest are linked in a comment of the contest post.
  • Go back to your comments on the contest posts and make sure each one is a quality comment with at least three sentences. Feel free to edit them if needed!
