Sharing my Witchy Stories 📖🌲

Another week, another edition of my witchy publication that I have been calling these posts "Witch Weekly". Here I am just documenting my esoteric activities for my little audience here on HIVE. Today I would like to talk about a project that blurs the lines between witchcraft and art.

The Making of My Witchy Zine!

Zine making has been a huge part of my life since I was a teenager. Now, a decade or more has passed since my first DIY publication and I am turning my attention to writing about my experiences as a green witch. Not because I am an expert but rather as a way to keep the folklore of this practice alive.

To me, green witchcraft has one foot firmly planted in herbalism and another in folklore. I draw upon tales from the old country as well as modern stories too. The modern uses of herbs in medicine and those of the past are just as important as the herblore when I am crafting a spell. I want to make booklets that reflect all of that and, if I can, contribute a bit to the living practice of using herbs for medicine and magick.

My last zine was on the topic of spell jars and herb sachets and I love how it turned out. This zine, however, is destined to be much longer and even more expansive.

The title of this next zine is "the Mystical Homestead" and really I have this little corner of HIVE to thank for the inspiration. My past posts will be transformed and re-arranged to fit this physical copy. As I re-read my previous Witch Weekly posts I edit unclear language and add to with more detail. So far the experience has been very enchanting and I am excited to share as the process continues.

Alongside my paper art I have been doing some simple candle spells on the altar I was using at my parent's place. I am so lucky to have the space and privacy to do such rituals. But, even if I didn't have such luxury I would still light a candle to discretely dedicate my intentions and prayers.

Herbs, books, and positive predictions can be used to build a better life. In these weekly posts I share aspects of my journey as a pagan witch. These are the aspects of my craft that you are allowed to see, anyway.
