Feng Shui is a nice idea. We are developing ourselves and our environment in relation to what the really situation actually is. And this idea originated in China!
What is really meant by Feng Shui? It is to place and to arrange rooms to achieve harmony with the environment. Every adaptation in every organization is to understand the internal environment in the organization, and we should adapt the things we are doing externally in the environments, and the environments should be a picture of the organization in question. Hence, what we find in different places has something to do with whom are represented where, and which organizations that are planning and consider to implement different things in different places.
Feng Shui is a concept, and everything we are doing have a concept and empirical data. It has its origin in Taoism. The practice is considered to be more than three thousands years old. The Tao means everything that exist, and this is the source, the pattern and the substance of all that exists. Feng Shui means literally “wind and water” in Chinese. Hence, there is harmony, peace, calm environments and good things within the adaptation processes that are available for every angles. Tao simply means way, and in philosophy this means that the organizations and the people are dynamic and seek to understand environments in move, and that we also understand that the environments are doing something to create and to develop an organization. The philosophy of Feng Shui is a practice of arranging the pieces in living spaces in order to create balance with the natural world. The goal is to harness energy forces and establish harmony between an individual and their environment. Therefore, we find the organization among the humans employed there, and in the people constituting the environments to the relevant organization in question.
The philosophers have through all times tried to understand how to explain different things on the earth. Everything is water, was that Thales meant! Everything is coming from water, and everything has something to do with the water, was that Thales really meant. And philosophers as Socrates and Plato were trying to explain nature, human nature, morality, laws, norms, and what we are doing and not doing and why. Therefore, Feng Shui is established in the philosophy, and the concept can be used many places. It can be used for building houses, cottages and buildings, and as such it has something to do with modern architecture. We can also use the concept for achieving competitive advantages in modern organizations, and in nations, and therefore the modern solutions we are finding in countries today, have a place-of-origin and a philosophy-of-origin.
The concept Feng Shui means mainly three things; The commanding position, the bagua areas, and the five elements. The commanding position is the spot in a room that is the furthest from the door and not in direct line with it. It puts you diagonal to the door. Ideally, you should have a clear line of sight to the door. The bagua areas mean the easiest ways to incorporate the bagua in your life is to identify one to three areas that need the most attention. You need a place to rest and work, and you need to take care of the family, and there can also be other areas that are important. The five elements mean earth, metal, water, wood, and fire—come from the Taoist tradition. The elements are five interrelated phases in life that work together to create a complete system. There is therefore a concept and a content in Feng Shui, and we should use it to make life better, stronger and more adaptable to what is going on. And wind and water are ways that the nature is within, and therefore we get the organizations as we have the human nature and nature.
