My Experience Celebrating My Birthday — With Covid-19 Lockdown

Hi guys,

I wish to share a quick moment:

The world’s biggest lockdown is here. Over 1.3 billion people in India are told to stay home. And I am one of them.

And you know?

It is also my birthday today.

Hand to heart, there's a mixed feeling inside.

Because look at what's happening right now:

On one side, we have the world crumbling, with fear and panic reaching all time high.

And then there's this other side — to be grateful that we are alive.

Question is: What can we do?

Covid-19 has seriously impacted not just the economy — but also our lives.

All the shops are shut.

Online ordering is incredibly limited.

And there's no quick solution for what the world is going through.

In the past, we have seen how conditions like this can last for weeks and months!

This idea of a silent birthday comes from a star celebrity.

You see, a couple of years ago, Marina Abramović decided to celebrate her 70th birthday in a new way!

If you didn't know, Marina is a worldwide star in the art industry. She's here:

She is also known as the grandmother of performance art. In fact, she is so popular that everyone wanted to attend her birthday.

So Marina invited hundreds of people and celebrated her birthday with silence.

For 70 minutes, she told everyone to exercise silence.

For a long time, I always wanted to do this. Plus, I have never been a fan of celebrating my birthday in a grand way.

No cake. No hanging out. No work.

Just pure silence.

That's how I wanted to it.

Today, I did just that. I sat in silence in my room for as many hours as possible. No thoughts in... or around. Just silence.

It almost felt like meditation. Such a great feeling I tell you!

Personally, I have no clue.

Though multiple studies have shown that silence not only improves your brain but also creates a better energy — and surrounding.

In times like these, silence is really underrated.

You turn on the Television, and you see people talking. Go to YouTube and you will discover conversations and debates.

There really is a lot of noise.

Silence, on the other hand, cuts the noise. It gives us more time to think — discover clarity — and aim our mind in the right direction.

Something we all could use, isn't it?

And this is how I celebrated my birthday. It isn't plain and simple. Rather a special birthday.

One that I will remember forever!

So glad I could share my little birthday joy here! 😀

Together, we will emerge victorious!

Cheers,
Sid
