Oat and fresh coconut milk for breakfast



Oat and coconut milk is a perfect,creamy and nutritious meal for breakfast .

It's been awhile since I had any dish prepared with oat as my dad who loves oat is no more.

My dad loves to prepare oat every single morning for breakfast,
I don't know why he does so and I never ask but right now, am guessing it might be because of his ill health.

He buys oat in cartons and store for future use and that's the main reason I and my siblings love oat,
He usually prepares it with just milk and no sugar reasons best known to him and we will all join him to enjoy the whole meal.

I grow up to love oat and milk but I will always add sugar to mine because to me is better that way.

This morning, I was craving for something nice, different from my usual breakfast and I remembered that it's been awhile since I had oat for breakfast,

I sent my sister to get it for me in a store very close to our house,
I wanted to go for other milks but I remembered that I had some coconut in the fridge, I quickly made my way to the fridge and brought out my fresh coconut and quickly breakfast became ready 😊.

I prepared my breakfast using the same exact method that my dad usually use while making oat for us while we were still very little.
(My dad usually use dairy milk but I replaced that with coconut milk to create a 100%vegan post)



Ingredients needed

  • 1 cup of dry oat
  • 1 large fresh coconut
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 tablespoon of Sugar (optional)

Procedure for making

Step 1: prepare the coconut milk

Since am using a coconut milk instead of other vegan milk, I have to prepare it differently before preparing my oat.

I started by breaking the back and then grating it using my grater before extracting the milk using hot water.

Step 2: boil some hot water for the oat

After preparing the coconut milk, I then boiled some hot water which will be used to prepare my oat.

Step 3: add the hot water to the oat

I added enough hot water to the dry oat ( enough water to cover the surface),
I covered the plate and allow the oat to drink enough water before adding my sugar .

Step 4: add the coconut milk

This is the final stage, the oat is ready ,you just have to add your coconut milk and enjoy to your stomach content.

This is my dad special way of preparing oat and I grow to love it this way.

I don't know of other methods and that's the reason I stick to my dad's method and besides I love the creamy taste of coconut milk in oatmeal .
