The struggle to make ends meet 🤦

For the sake of this post, I have to go with the mindset that 'we all wish to live our best life.

It doesn't matter if you are living or barely surviving at the moment. What we all have in common is the desire to elevate our standard of living and to wake up to a more successful phase of our life.

Little wonder why we go on to think of a dream house, dream car, dream job...and so on.

There are many who no longer have time for themselves. They don't get enough sleep, they don't eat properly and they don't pay attention to their health. All they do is work, extra work and much more work.

The general perception is that 'we all need to work hard to achieve our dreams. Of course, this is also a proven fact. Be it hard work or smart work, each of them contributes to our success story. Many people out there are fully aware of this and they are ready to do even when there is no guarantee of success.

I, for one, have seen people soaked in the pool of their sweat while they try to make ends meet. There are people like that in all corners of my country. Kids, adults, ladies, guys, learned, unlearned...EVERYONE!

For example, the bus I boarded two days ago from the Eastern part of Nigeria to the southern part of the country had a mechanical issue which made us spend + or - 3 hours in awkward locations while the driver tries to fix the issue.

At first, I was completely pissed off because I imagined that our driver knew the condition of his vehicle yet he used it for the journey. On the other hand, it was hard to overlook the fact that the man was also working hard to right the wrong.

We were 7 passengers on this journey and all of us initially expressed our disappointment with an angry voices.

That's the driver working off his ass 🤦

It turned out that our driver was an emotional character who can't hide his feelings. He kept pleading with the passengers - he pleaded and murmured words of prayers. His reaction was enough to melt everyone's heart. We saw how hard he was trying to make a living and we couldn't help but hope for journey mercies. That was all that mattered at the time.

I finally got to my destination by 22:30. Considering the situation of things over here, that time was considered an ungodly hour, so to speak. On the other hand, it's not the worst that could have happened.

That random experience got me thinking of other stuff.

It was a clear display of how hard it can be for people to make ends meet. The hardship people face here (and in some other part of the world) is beyond explanation. People struggle to eat, travel and even smile.

I wonder when everyone will be able to live comfortably without worries.
