STREET ART #134 - Wine, volcanoes and street art on Pico, Azores (Portugal)

DSC_01.jpg

After visiting the island of Flores (Azores), we traveled to the island of Pico where we stayed only two days in the main city Madalena. The island is completely dominated by Montanha do Pico 2351 meters, which makes it the highest mountain in Portugal. We spent one day hiking to the top. The next was spent in Madalena. The city had a few very nice murals. I especially like the fisherman.

Pico has vineyards that are on the Unesco world list and worth visiting for wine tasting. Beyond wine and volcanoes, we feel that the island is characterized by the sea. It also appears in some of the street art. Apart from these, we also passed some graffiti that did look quite faded. This small city might have had more murals, but this is some of what we happened to come across while walking though the city.
