A lot of murals were done during this edition of Mural Festival in Montreal. Today I present you the two murals with the black and white geometrical work of Caroline Monnet and the more round and colorful work of Hanna Barczyk. Different styles... The boulevard Saint-Laurent is transformed into a long art gallery open to all and accessible 24 hours a day, I like that.

Beaucoup de murales ont été réalisées pendant cette édition de Mural Festival. Aujourd'hui je vous présente les 2 murales avec l'œuvre géométrique en noir et blanc de Caroline Monnet et l'œuvre plus en rondeur et en couleur de Hanna Barczyk. Des styles différents... Le boulevard Saint-Laurent se transforme en une longue galerie d'art ouverte à tous et accessible 24 heures sur 24, j'aime ça. 😀

In the background, you can see the Boulevard Saint-Laurent, called the Main because it divides Montreal in two, with an emblematic store La Vieille Europe, a grocery store where there are products from Europe, especially cheese and charcuterie.

Au fond vous apercevez le Boulevard Saint-Laurent, appelé le Main car il divise Montréal en deux, avec un magasin emblématique La Vieille Europe, épicerie ou il y a des produits venus d'Europe, surtout fromage et charcuterie.

Caroline Monnet

Caroline Monnet** is a visual artist based in Montreal. She began by studying sociology and communication at the University of Ottawa and Granada in Spain. She is now an internationally recognized artist and filmmaker with works that blend visual elements of traditionnal culture with abstraction.

Caroline Monnet est une artiste visuelle basée à Montréal. Elle a commencé par étudier la sociologie et la communication à l'Université d'Ottawa et de Grenade en Espagne. Elle est maintenant une artiste et cinéaste reconnue dans le monde entier avec ses œuvres qui mélangent les éléments visuels de la culture autochtone et l'abstraction.

"I’ve always had an interest in architecture. I’m fascinated by shapes, lines and materials, but also what is possible to achieve with a bit of vision and good design. As a kid, my parents would renovate old cabins into homes. I was constantly surrounded by construction materials."

J'ai toujours eu un intérêt pour l'architecture. Je suis fascinée par les formes, les lignes et les matériaux, mais aussi par ce qu'il est possible de réaliser avec un peu de vision et un bon design. Hanna Barczyk

German-born Hanna Barczyk is an artist and illustrator based between Montreal, Toronto and New York. She studied art and design at the Toronto art school. She is now a recognized artist creating illustrations for major magazines such as The New York Times or The Economist or for advertising campaigns (Apple, Facebook...). Her work reflects her passion for dance, movement and music.

D'origine allemande, Hanna Barczyk est une artiste et illustratrice basée entre Montréal, Toronto et New-York. Elle a étudié l'art et le design à la Toronto art school. Elle est maintenant une artiste reconnue créant des illustrations pour de grands magazines comme le New York Times ou The Economist ou pour des campagnes publicitaires (Apple, Facebook...). Son travail reflète sa passion pour la dance, le mouvement et la musique.

Very cool work, it looks like a cut paper collage... 👍 I'm almost done showing you all the murals made during Mural Festival, I only have 2 left but I'm missing the pictures, one is on a car rental parking lot (it's going to be hard to get a picture without car) and the other one is a bit far from my home but I'm going to see it.

Très beau travail, cela ressemble à un collage de papier découpé... 👍 J'ai bientôt fini de vous montrer toutes les murales faites pendant Mural Festival, il m'en reste seulement 2 mais il me manque les photos, l'une se trouve sur un parking d'un loueur de voiture (cela va être dur d'avoir une photo sans voiture) et l'autre un peu loin de chez moi mais je compte bien y aller la voir.
