Beer Tasting: Karlskrone Schankbier and BEer cool

Hello, beer lovers and everyone else! 🍻

How are you?
Although we are already deep into October, the last three days here have been cloudy, steamy, rainy, and extremely hot, 25 to 29 degrees Celsius. On the one hand, it's good because you don't have to heat the rooms, but on the other hand, it's a bit strange for this time of year.

Weathermen say it's because of a warm cyclone from Africa bringing heat and Saharan sand to us. It's true, I have never seen such dirty rain, and the cars are painted a light brown as if I had been to a tropical rally.

Well, I'm not too bothered, because today is #beersaturday, 329 in a row, and this sweltering heat actually calls for a refreshing cold beer :)

Today is also a shopping day, and I picked up two beers in the local shops, for a change, the two cheapest I could get.
Two cheap cans, one Austrian, one Hungarian. Maybe there will be a surprise or maybe I will get an answer to the question of why they are so cheap.

🍻 😎 🍻

Karlskrone Schankbier

Brewed by Privatbrauerei Fritz Egger, Unterradlberg, Niederösterreich Austria za Aldi Europe (Nord/Süd/Hofer). Schankbier is usually a German lager, with a lower alcohol level, literally meaning a 'tap bier' to be drunk at the table, with very neutral flavors and a dry finish.
Can, 0.5 l, alkohol 5% ABV, IBU N/A.

What do the Master Brewers say? Nothing. Not a word on the website. Maybe because they do it for a chain? Or does it suck that much?

The beer is pale yellow, the head disappears almost immediately and it has no smell.
A sip goes down the throat smoothly and shyly, and a hint of malty sweetness, probably also corn, appears in the mouth. It is as if it had been diluted with water and the aftertaste has a momentary hop bitterness to remind you that this is beer.

Well, it's drinkable, of course, but only if it's the only beer on a desert island and if it's chilled. But it's a bargain, I think it's the cheapest you can get here, €0.69. Typical no-name industrial beer for supermarket chains brewed at minimum cost.
And, you won't believe it, people are even drinking it in large numbers... 🤓

BEer cool Lager

Brewed by Pécsi Sörfözde, Pécs, Hungary.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.2% ABV, IBU N/A. It's lager style, more malty and sweet and less bitter.

What do the Master Brewers say? Nothing like the previous one. They don't have this beer on their website either, but I bought it from my local Spar for €0.75. Cheap.

The beer is clear yellow in color, the head is solid and disappears quickly. It has no odor. It goes down the throat smoothly, there is a malty sweetness on the palate, also a little hop bitterness, corn again, and a feeling of being diluted.
There is nothing in the aftertaste.

It's drinkable, otherwise, it wouldn't be sold in one of Europe's biggest supermarket chains. And it's very affordable. But that's all...

Both beers are, what I call, typical industrial beers, brewed at minimal cost and distributed through large retail chains. That's why they are so cheap. It's fine to taste, but thank you very much, I have better ones.

I was hoping for a surprise, to try a cheap but good beer, but far from it. They certainly won't be in my fridge.

And what am I listening to as I write this? One musician from yesterday's #newtunes post. A great pianist who also experiments with electronics.
