Yes, unfortunately that happened too. There was an access ban decision for Discord in Turkey. Previously, Wikipedia was banned in our country and the website could not be accessed without using a VPN from 2017 to 2020. As a solution in our country, banning comes to the minds of the authorities first of all. Is this a real solution?
The reason for Discord's ban was announced as some “adolescents” in our country blackmailing, harassing and threatening girls over Discord. Of course, no one in their right mind would want to use such an application, but was this the only use of this application? People used it to chat with their friends, to socialize. I have even seen on social media that there are people who work and make money from this app.
Of course, there were also people like us who used it to communicate and interact with communities. I was following many communities on Hive through Discord servers and that's where I interacted with all the people I knew on Hive. I met some of them through Discord and I'm not going to lie, Discord is the reason why I'm so friendly with so many of them. Because I don't have the chance to go to Venezuela, Spain, England, Japan, Indonesia, or Italy and chat with these people. In fact, I wouldn't even be able to chat with most of the people in my country if it wasn't for Discord. There's only 1 Hive user who doesn't live in the same city as me that I've met outside of Discord. And unfortunately, I won't be able to access this app without a VPN anymore. But will this solve the problems in my country?
Honestly, I love my country, I'm sure many people love their country. It is a country that should be like paradise, we have fertile land. We are a very suitable country for winter tourism, summer tourism, cultural tourism, all kinds of activities, but let's face it, there are many problems. There are serious problems in the legal system, in the education system. Unfortunately, femicides, animal murders have increased a lot recently. My hope for this country is diminishing day by day. There are still good people and we are still a really beautiful country, but I don't know if we will be better or worse 10 years from now and I feel like we will be worse. I feel like each generation is more ignorant, unconscious and immoral than the previous one. I guess I don't need to mention the refugee problem on top of all this. Even a tourist who came to the country 10 years ago says that Turkey is not as nice as it used to be. Back to the topic, would banning Discord make things better?
The answer is of course no. Maybe for a day, maybe for a week, but then the bad guys will find a way to keep this shit going. Discord is a small tool for them and not irreplaceable. They will continue to harm innocent people using Telegram, Tiktok or one of the thousands of apps I've never heard of. I recently saw a news report that they gave a house arrest sentence to a person who threatened a little girl and made her do something on the air. Really? Would you consider making the internet connection fiber as well? Many of these idiots are people who never leave the house anyway. So are you rewarding them or punishing them? You have to give a real punishment and you have to scare the potential people who are thinking of committing this crime. You have to make them suffer. I'm not going to be merciful about it because I know the inside story. You don't want to inflict violence on them? Okay, here's the solution, in addition to house arrest, make sure that there are no devices in their home that they can connect to the internet. No cell phones, computers, tablets, TVs, nothing. Maybe a tube TV so that his family can watch the news. That would be a real punishment for them. Or give them 10 years in prison. Most of them will never attempt such a thing again. Here is a real solution. If the punishment is not a deterrent, people will never hesitate to do it. The fine for a jaywalker is 300 dollars. That's nothing for them. Most of them will think, I'm spending that money in a bar for one night, forget it, and that's what happens. Evet maalesef bu da oldu. Discord için Türkiye'de erişim engeli kararı çıktı. Daha önce ülkemizde Wikipedia yasaklanmıştı ve 2017'den 2020'ye kadar web sitesine VPN kullanılmadan girilememişti. Ülkemizde çözüm olarak her şeyden önce yetkililerin aklına yasaklamak geliyor. Bu gerçek bir çözüm mü?
Discord'un yasaklanma sebebi ülkemizde bulunan bazı "ergenlerin" Discord üzerinden kız çocuklarına şantaj yapmaları, taciz ve tehdit etmeleri olarak açıklandı. Tabi ki böyle kullanılan bir uygulamayı aklı başında kimse kullanmak istemez ancak bu uygulamanın tek kullanım alanı bu muydu? İnsanlar arkadaşlarıyla sohbet edebilmek için, sosyalleşebilmek için kullanıyorlardı. Hatta sosyal medyada gördüğüm kadarıyla bu uygulama üzerinden çalışan ve para kazanan insanlar da var.
Tabi ki bir de bu uygulamayı bizim gibi topluluklarla iletişim ve etkileşim halinde olmak için kullananlar da vardı. Hive'da pek çok topluluğu Discord sunucuları üzerinden takip ediyordum ve Hive'da tanıdığım bütün insanlarla da oradan etkileşim halindeydim. Bazıları ile Discord üzerinden tanıştım ve yalan söylemeyeceğim pek çoğuyla bu kadar samimi olabilmemin sebebi Discord. Çünkü Venezuela, İspanya, İngiltere, Japonya, Endonezya, ya da İtalya'ya gidip bu insanlarla sohbet etme şansım yok. Hatta ülkemdeki çoğu insanla bile Discord olmasaydı sohbet edemezdim. Benimle aynı şehirde yaşamayan ve Discord dışında tanıştığım Hive kullanıcısı sayısı sadece 1. Ve maalesef artık bu uygulamaya VPN kullanmadan erişemeyeceğim. Peki bu ülkemdeki sorunları çözecek mi?
Açıkçası ülkemi çok seviyorum, eminim pek çok insan ülkesini seviyordur. Cennet gibi olması gereken bir ülke, verimli topraklarımız var. Kış turizmi, yaz turizmi, kültür turizmi her türlü etkinlik için çok uygun bir ülkeyiz ama kabul edelim pek çok sorun var. Hukuk sisteminde, eğitim sisteminde, ciddi sorunlar var. Kadın cinayetleri, hayvan cinayetleri maalesef son dönemde çok arttı. Her geçen gün bu ülkeye dair umudum azalıyor. Hala iyi insanlar var ve hala gerçekten güzel bir ülkeyiz ama bundan 10 yıl sonra daha iyi mi daha kötü mü olacağız bilmiyorum ve daha kötü olacakmışız gibi hissediyorum. Her nesil bir öncekinden daha cahil, bilinçsiz ve ahlaksızmış gibi hissediyorum. Bütün bunların üstüne mülteci sorunundan bahsetmeme gerek yok sanırım. Ülkeye 10 yıl önce gelen bir turist bile Türkiye'nin eskisi kadar güzel olmadığını söylüyor. Konuya dönelim, Discord'u yasaklamak bir şeyleri düzeltir mi?
Cevap tabi ki hayır. Belki 1 gün belki 1 hafta ancak sonrasında zaten kötü niyetli kişiler bu boku sürdürmenin bir yolunu bulacaklar. Discord onlar için küçük bir araç ve yeri doldurulamaz bir şey değil. Telegram, tiktok ya da benim adını duymadığım binlerce uygulamadan bir tanesini kullanarak masum insanlara zarar vermeye devam ederler. Geçenlerde küçük bir kız çocuğunu tehdit ederek ona yayında bir şeyler yaptıran bir kişiye ev hapsi cezası verdikleri haberini gördüm. Gerçekten mi? İnternet bağlantısını da fiber yaptırmayı düşünür müsünüz? Bu geri zekalıların pek çoğu zaten evden asla çıkmayan insanlar. O zaman onları ödüllendirmiş mi oldunuz yoksa cezalandırmış mı? Gerçek bir ceza verip bu suçu işlemeyi düşünen potansiyel insanları korkutmanız gerekir. Onlara acı çektirmeniz gerekir. Bu konuda merhametli olmayacağım çünkü olayların iç yüzünü biliyorum. Onlara şiddet uygulamak istemiyor musunuz? Tamam işte çözüm, ev hapsi yanında evinde internete bağlanabileceği hiçbir cihaz bulunmamasını sağlayın. Cep telefonu, bilgisayar, tablet, TV hiçbir şey olmasın. Tüplü televizyon serbest olabilir bu sayede ailesi haberleri seyredebilir. Bu onlara gerçek bir ceza olur. Ya da 10 yıl hapis cezası verin. Pek çoğu bir daha böyle bir şeye teşebbüs edemeyecektir. İşte gerçek bir çözüm. Verilen cezalar caydırıcı olmazsa insanlar bunu yapmaktan asla çekinmez. Trafikte magandalık yapan bir insan için ceza 300 dolar. Bu onlar için hiçbir şey demek. Bir çoğu, ben bu parayı 1 gecede bir barda harcıyorum, boşversene şeklinde düşünecektir ki öyle de oluyor.
