No se me ocurre mejor título para esta publicación que inoxidable, para definir de alguna manera lo que continúa haciendo el capitán de Argentina en su carrera futbolística.
Apenas una hora después de finalizar nuestro podcast semanal junto a @palabras1 donde hablamos sobre Messi y Cristiano Ronaldo, aparece Messi en toda su enorme dimensión para realizar un partido magistral con 3 goles y dos asistencias elevando los números de esas estadísticas asombrosas de las cuales hablamos.
Por si esos 3 goles fueran poco, a punto estuvo de convertir al menos en un par de oportunidades más, una muy clara frustrada por el arquero Viscarra que envió al córner un tiro libre ejecutado de manera perfecta por el 10 de la selección argentina. También en cuanto a asistencias pudo haber conseguido otras de no ser por la buena actuación del arquero rival o la mala puntería de los propios.
Es difícil de mensurar la actuación de Messi, algunos seguramente dirán que Bolivia no está a la altura de la categoría de la selección argentina, sin embargo, debemos recordar que es una selección que venía de ganar sus tres compromisos anteriores por las eliminatorias incluyendo esa enorme victoria contra la gran selección que es Colombia a quien le quitó el invicto en esta competencia.
Parecería que los años no le pesan y aunque es evidente que ya no puede mantener ese ritmo, velocidad y explosión en la carrera con el que nos deslumbró durante muchos años en el Barcelona, su juego continúa siendo punzante de a ratos y con eso es más que suficiente como para ser el motor de un equipo que pese a los grandes esfuerzos que hace su técnico para ir acostumbrando al resto a jugar sin el 10, cuando está Él se nota demasiado.
Es una suerte enorme que tenemos los argentinos de que haya nacido en nuestro suelo y que pese a los muchos millones de dólares que ha acumulado durante su brillante carrera, todavía venga, se ponga la camiseta y se emocione por jugar ante su público que lo adora.
Creo que es su forma de devolver el cariño que todos le profesamos, da lo mejor de sí y por un rato se olvida de los 38 años y juega como si tuviera 20, como si estuviera hecho de acero inoxidable que, pese al tiempo transcurrido, continúa reluciente como el primer día.
Stainless
I can't think of a better title for this post than stainless, to somehow define what the Argentine captain continues to do in his football career.
Just an hour after finishing our weekly podcast with @palabras1 where we talked about Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi appears in all his enormous dimensions to play a masterful game with 3 goals and two assists, raising the numbers of those statistics we are talking about.
As if those 3 goals were not enough, he was close to converting at least a couple more opportunities, one very clear one frustrated by goalkeeper Viscarra who sent a free kick perfectly executed by the number 10 of the Argentine national team to the corner. Also, in terms of assists, he could have gotten others if it weren't for the good performance of the rival goalkeeper or the poor aim of his own.
It is difficult to measure Messi's performance, some will surely say that Bolivia is not up to the level of the Argentine national team, however, we must remember that it is a team that came from winning its three previous matches in the qualifiers, including that enormous victory against the great team that is Colombia, from whom it took away the unbeaten record in this competition.
It would seem that the years do not weigh on him and although it is evident that he can no longer maintain that rhythm, speed, and explosion in the race with which he dazzled us for many years in Barcelona, his game continues to be sharp at times and that is more than enough to be the engine of a team that despite the great efforts made by its coach to get the rest used to playing without the number 10 when he is there it is very noticeable.
We Argentines are extremely lucky that he was born on our soil and that despite the many millions of dollars he has accumulated during his brilliant career, he still comes, puts on the shirt, and gets excited about playing in front of his fans who adore him.
I think it's his way of returning our affection for him. He gives his best, forgets about being 38 for a while, and plays as if he were 20 as if he were made of stainless steel that, despite the time that has passed, continues to shine like the first day.
