In the afternoon the power went out in the city and that made us improvise, but the school management did it in a very creative way and we managed to have support material in almost all the three talks.
The first school was the only private school in Barquisiemto that we visited. It had the best facilities. Air conditioning, which we were very grateful for, since the heat in that city is strong and in a classroom with 40 students you can imagine.
Another characteristic of this school is that the kids talked too much. It was hard to keep my concentration to give all the information. However, it was one of the groups that asked the most questions. In spite of talking so much I noticed that they paid attention and were very interested in the subject.
That Tuesday we toured Barquisimeto from end to end. In the afternoon it was our turn in the east, near the hotel where we stayed. We had already gone to that school the day before. In total we attended five classrooms there.
The director was very kind and helped us with the lighting. She had a battery that lasted us one lecture to use the projector. In the next one she looked for a monitor with a charge that we used. We were only left with the third lecture without support material, where the kids had to use their imagination a lot more. Contrary to what you might think, it was the most attended class.
I am very happy with the whole day in Barquisimeto. I feel that I am nourishing myself a lot with the interaction with the kids. I feel that it is getting easier and easier for me to make a good impact to motivate them in the subject. I have perfected a lot the talk and there are always details to polish. La directora es súper amable y nos ayudó con el tema de la luz. Tenía una batería que nos duró una charla para usar el proyector. En la siguiente buscó un monitor con carga que usamos. Solo nos quedó la tercera charla sin material de apoyo, donde los chicos tuvieron que usar mucho más su imaginación. Contrario a lo que se pudiera pensar, fue la clase que más atendió.
Estoy muy feliz de toda la jornada vivida en Barquisimeto. Siento que me estoy nutriendo mucho con la interacción con los muchachos. Siento que cada vez se me hace más fácil causar un buen impacto para motivarlos en el tema. He perfeccionado mucho la charla y siempre hay detalles que pulir.
