Hello, today I want to tell you a little bit about my favorite music group, I'm usually very loyal to my tastes, so I've been a fan of this group for about 24 years.
I know 24 years is a lot of time, crazy, but it all started when I was about 7 years old and I heard for the first time a song that caught me, then I could see who were the ones singing it and indeed it was eternal love at first sight.
Everybody was the first song I heard from the Backstreet Boys, there began my little obsession we could say, I was a baby but I had already been charmed by them. Nick Carter, the youngest of them, captivated me with his beautiful smile and his mischievousness and he hasn't stopped doing it since.
I collected magazines, I filled the walls of my room with their posters, I collected their discographies and anything that came out of them, a complete fan in love, well actually I still am.
I was exploring his music and his songs one by one captivated me, I remember when Millennium came out in 1999, one of my Christmas presents was his original cassette, I listened to it on both sides over and over again, I loved all his songs.
I was 9 years old and I wanted to know what those songs that delighted me so much said, so a cousin advised me to translate the songs with an English to Spanish dictionary, it was a very good technique and so I could learn at once a little more English, but I was so little that it was difficult to stay with the habit, even so I managed with her help to translate all the songs on this album, to be able to understand and love them even more.
My first steps in the internet world were also full of things related to them, because I discovered that I could find out things about them and save their pictures, I had boxes of diskettes full of their pictures saved. God, I feel I sound too old in this post, talking about cassettes and disks, the young people of today will feel very lost and surely they won't even know what I'm talking about or even worse, they will imagine me as an old lady when I'm not, so please if you are young and you read this, don't call me ma'am.
I remember their website back then, it was very nice and of course it was a novelty, I loved watching MTV, because they showed their videos and interviews all the time.
By the year 2000, they came with their album Black and Blue, I went from having cassette to having my original CDs, it was very exciting, at that time they did Around the World in 100 Hours, that is to say a tour around the world where they visited the 5 continents in record time, 100 hours, in all the TV channels they showed specials about them and again I will sound a little old, but I recorded them with the VHS. This tour was crazy, the euphoria of the fans worldwide was incredible, I simply could not stop watching these specials and even less stop recording them.
They came to Venezuela on that tour, where I was only 11 years old and they did not let me go, because among the cities they visited, mine was not included. The newspapers dedicated full pages to talk about them, I still keep those clippings and every night of their concerts in Venezuela I cried non-stop, I imagine that it may seem dramatic, but it was so, without exaggerating I can tell you that I cried until I fell asleep, for me it was very sad, I was disappointed and my consolation was to follow them through the special programs that were shown on TV.
Then that wound could feel a little consoled when finally in 2011 I could attend a concert of theirs, which I simply call "the best concert I went to" and which I will not talk about in this opportunity because I already dedicated an entire post to it, here I leave the link if you want to read it. Post Concert BSB
Unfortunately the album This Is Us, is the last original CD I have of them in physical form, because things were getting a little difficult in Venezuela, the original cds were no longer arriving even by order, but this has not been an impediment for me to listen to their music, because through digital platforms I have been able to access it easily.
I can tell you that in all this time I feel that I have grown with them, their music did not remain stagnant, they did not die, they are still active as always, creating quality music, their documentary from a few years ago shows how they got to fame and how they have managed to stay.
Maybe in Latin America they don't sound as much as they did a few years ago, but they continue to fill stadiums to bursting at their concerts, selling out tickets quickly, so I just keep hoping to be able to attend one of their concerts again and even one of their cruises.
Today they are all parents, dedicated not only to their music but to their family and I feel very happy and proud of them, especially my beloved Nick, who after going through so much, now has what he always dreamed of, a family full of love.
