The Path To The Highway | Shook Chapter 24 Part 4

Mr. Blue's semi-truck merged onto the highway...except Mr. and Mrs. Blue whatched it do so...amd all seven of their children and dog were in there...
Maya swerved left abruptly, sliding everyone left. Dyan tripped two steps left and banged into the window.
“Ouch!” Dyan yelled, unsticking herself from the wall.
“Sorry!” Maya called from the front seat.
Dyan noticed they were getting closer and closer to the lane line on the road, and the car in the next lane seemed to be getting closer to them. The man driving the car turned and his eyes widened.
“MAYA! YOU’RE SLANTING!” Navy yelled.
Chaos blew up in the truck.
“We’re about to hit that car!”
“AAAAAAAHH!”
The car got so close it was side by side with the truck and when it got close to the truck's huge front wheel Dyan screamed until she felt her voice vibrate, and the rest of the Blue children followed suit.
Maya gripped the wheel and yanked the steering wheel right, and kept rolling it until they were a good distance from the green car.
Dyan was stuck frozen, gripping the open cabinet hole.
“I’m starting to wonder if this is even safe.” Dyan said after a moment of silence.
“Oh, it’s not,” answered Wild Blue, his eyes still glued to his video game. “You should have known that before we left the mansion.”
How had Dyan forgotten how much of a dangerous place the road was!? Rows of cars were speeding past the truck in the lanes beside it, making a wwwwwhuuuuussh noise as they passed by. One truck that passed by had long, curved smoke stacks, and was followed by a huge long flatbed with logs as long as trees strapped on top of it. What if Maya swerved again? What if they crashed and everything went black?
“I can’t do this! We shouldn’t be on the highway!” Dyan said, her breathing getting quicker.
“Don’t worry, Dyan. we’re going the speed limit,” was Maya’s attempt at reassurance.
“We’re gonna crash into someone! I can tell!” Dyan yelled. She sat on the floor facing the sleeper bunks, curling up into a ball.
She heard jingles, then felt something warm and furry around her. She opened her eyes to see Bear wrapped around her. His muzzle was inches away from her face, giving her his signature slouchy-eyed stare.
A laugh escaped Dyan’s throat, though she tried hard to contain herself. She began to get lots of pats on the back.
“Don’t cry. We’ll be okay,” said Navy, followed by a “aw,” from Royal.
True said, “Trust me. If Maya can’t drive right, I’ll make her pull over.” This comment got a teeth-smacking noise from Maya.
Even baby Teal reaches out to give out a few whacks on the head with her fat baby hands.
Dyan smiled at the baby, and Teal smiled back.
“You guys are literally the best,” Dyan smiled at all of them.
“Now don’t be a cheesy cheese-ball,” said Azure.
