Wild Yonder got out of his fighting stance and smiled. “Great! You found us! Now we don’t have to waste time going through this whole castle looking for you!”

Dyan dropped her fire poker on the floor, which landed with a huge metal ‘CLANG’. “But, how did you two get here? Your boarding school is more up north, not in Augusta.”

“We’ll explain everything over the muffins we brought, so here.” Azure unclipped his arms from around Dyan and brought the steamy plate of muffins from the microwave to her.

As he passed the island counter, he knocked over a bookbag and a pile of muffins went raining down onto the ground. There must have been fifty of them.

“Dang it!” he yelled and shoved the plate Dyan to clean up the mess.

Dyan’s eyes widened at the amount of muffins they had of all different flavors. “What the?”

“It wasn’t our choice to bring these, it was Maya’s.” Arure explained, stuffing them all back into his backpack.

Dyan had too many questions. Was she dreaming? Her tummy was grumbling. She took a blueberry muffin speckled with sugar and bit it, and hoped they didn’t steal all these. “But how, why-”

“So what had happened was this:” Wild Yonder grabbed a muffin. “ Dad stopped to sleep at a hotel and said he’d bring us to our boarding school tomorrow-which is now today. Last night Maya said she wouldn’t let us get sold away to boarding school, and that she had a plan to get you back. To put it simple, we’re going to run away. Maya made us all get up at like 4:00 a.m. so Dad wouldn’t hear us. She had already asked Dad where your new foster home was, so she knew where you were at. She sent us and Navy here early this morning so we could come get you, and Royal stayed at the hotel to put all of our clothes in her backpack. ”

Dyan’s appetite was slowly slipping as she imagined Maya in the middle of the street, pointing at her siblings to go in certain directions before she went her own. It was like learning your sister was a robber, and they wanted you in on the heist.

Wild Yonder turned to his bookbag annoyedly. “Navy said that Maya filled Azure’s bookbag with first-aid stuff the night before we left home, and Maya stuffed my bookbag with muffins early this morning, so we don’t starve or something and there’s a lot of muffins so…yeah that’s it.

“She packed the first-aid stuff two days ago?” Asked Dyan, wiping the muffin sugar from the sides of her mouth. “She must have been planning this for a while.”

“Navy said she told him about the plan the night before we left for Maine. She’s really angry at Mom and Dad. She says they’ve given up on us.” said Azure.

“And she’s right!” Wild Yonder scrunched up his face and turned to his brother.

Dyan’s mind became a foggy mess of information, thoughts, and pure shock. This didn’t make any sense! At the end of Shook Spirit said goodbye to the alien family and went on with her life. Dyan was Spirit. Dyan had said goodbye. So how was the Blue family back in her life? She knew one thing though: running away didn’t seem like the best or safest idea. She thought for a moment before she spoke.

“I don’t know if you should run away from your parents. I don’t have any parents to go back to, so running away for me wasn’t much of a loss, but you've got two parents in the same home who love you and are cool and nice. Not every foster parent I’ve stayed with is nice, and certainly not as nice as Mr. and Mrs. Blue.”

Wild Yonder turned to Dyan with an evil stare. “They’re not nice! They’re evil! They don’t want us anymore. You gotta pay to get into the boarding school Dad’s driving us to, and they paid for all of us to go. Well, except True, but besides that. Why else would they be paying for us to go to a live-in jail unless they didn’t want us!?”
