One week from today will be the next Hive Power Up Day, on July 1st 2020! It's also been almost a month since the last time @streetstyle was spotted on the blockchain, and one of the last recent actions on his account delegated 1k Hive Power to me. I'm taking that as a sign that he knew he'd be swamped with 3D life stuff and wanted me to keep an eye on things in his absence. I do know he was having issues related to the impact of the virus and how it was affecting those around him, so I'm continuing to send good thoughts in his direction and hoping we hear from him that all is well very soon.

That being said, it did make things super chaotic just the teensy bit confusing last month - thanks again @brittandjosie for alerting everyone that his usual announcement post didn't go up, and for jumping in with the prize awards for June!

So for July, I'm getting a wicked early head start on things. This way, even if he's back in time for the festivities, he can just relax and get caught up while we all power up the blockchain. It also gives me plenty of time for corrections, additions, and confirmations needed.

Also while I'm in charge, I decided to make a few minor changes that will hopefully streamline the process and clear up any confusion (you may regret giving me the chance to do this, @streetstyle ...lol). For those who want the tl:dr version, you can skip to the bottom of the post, where I outline the requirements & prizes.

What's in a name?

One of the few bummers about leaving that other blockchain is that SPUD made for such an awesomesauce acronym! HPUD doesn't trip off the tongue nearly as well, and I know Street came up with a number of alternative tags, including HIVE-PUD-INTL. However, when I threw together an announcement post for last month, I realized that hive.blog doesn't like that tag because of the two dashes. So after a lot of banging my head against my desk thought, I figured the best choice was the simplest and most intuitive of the choices. Some little changes to help the little fish

In chatting with @brittandjosie throught all this, who is part of the awesome team behind @theterminal's Redfish Rally initiative (which helps new accounts grow), she mentioned she'd asked Street before he disappeared if he'd consider lowering the minimum Hive Power requirement from 300HP to 100HP. Since I can't think of a good reason to say no, I'm saying a...

In addition, I've decided to drop the requirement for posting about Hive Power Up Day twice - once before the day, and once on the day. For at least this month, I'm going to try having just the one post announcing your power up. This may or may not change depending on how it goes. Also, big shout out to @abh12345 for graciously agreeing to help me by pulling together the data when the time comes for the people who qualify for the prizes. Asher, you ROCK!

So what is HivePUD anyway?

Hive Power Up Day has been taking place on the first day of every month since it's inception on that other blockchain over a year ago. There's a great old post from @sndbox that explains all the reasons you personally benefit from powering up. For the community as a whole, it's a great way to show support for our blockchain home by staking (aka powering up) Hive and adding to its value.

So for the first day of the month:

• We ask that everyone who can do so, power up any amount of HIVE they are holding on the first of the month.

• We ask accounts that are currently powering down to please pause the powerdown during the hours of the first of the month.

• We ask that those who are trading and/or selling Hive, not to do so during the hours of the first of the month (and if possible, cancel any type of sell order on any exchanges for the same hours).

Are there prizes?

Yes, in addition to making your own vote more valuable, and giving you more curation rewards in addition to earning interest on your stake, some amazing members of the Hive community are also offering prizes that include delegations, Hive giveaways, and other cool stuff. More about that at the end of the post - please keep in mind that because of all the confusion, some of the prizes might not be written in stone as of yet. I'll update the confirmed prizes as they happen.

I'm also upping my prize game a bit this month. In addition to my usual 10 Hive giveaway, I'm adding in some delegations specifically to members of the aforementioned @theterminal's Redfish Rally. The thought popped into my head as I was putting this post together, that since Street delegated to me, I should put it to good use for HivePUD. In future months, I might change try doing delegations for different groups, but this month I want to show those little fish, who are the future of our blockchain, a little Hive love. ❤️

Rules to Win Prizes for HIVEPUD

Again, in Street's own words (with my changes edited in)

MUST have a reputation score BELOW 70.00 ( so 69.99 is good & Can participate.) AND more than 100 HIVE POWER (prior to HivePUD) BUT LESS than 8000 HIVE Power.

MUST have a reputation score of 39 & ABOVE (so rank of 38.99 will Not Win)

MUST Power Up HIVE COIN on JULY 1st, 2020

MUST make a post about your POWER UP on JULY 1st with the tag HivePUD . It can be as simple as "I powered up X amount of HIVE COIN" to a simple picture/screenshot of your Power Up and posted to your HIVE blog, or it could be a super long dissertation on HIVE Power. IMPORTANT:use HivePUD hash tag so that I can be sure to see them.

The winners MUST meet all 4 requirements , and it will be based on the Biggest HIVE Power Up PERCENTAGE, not the biggest Power Up. This means that it will be based on the ratio between your current amount of HIVE Power and the amount you power up on JULY 1st.

For Example:

If you have 1000 HIVE Power already powered up prior to JULY 1, and on JULY 1 you complete steps 1-5 with a 100 HIVE Power Up,

and

another HIVE member has 300 HIVE Powered up prior to JULY 1, and on JULY 1st Powers Up 60 HIVE Coin, then this 2nd user would be winning with a 20% power up versus the first example with a bigger power up but smaller percentage of only 10% based on their account.
