TIPTOE; The Inkwell Prompt #158

I let down my guard for a brief moment and you stole from me in an unimaginable manner” He said to her while looking straight into her eye.

Once upon a time, in a quiet little village where sunflower gave it shine, birds sing praises of its beauty and blooming wildflowers gave a magical scent, there lived a man named Nelson. From a tender age, Nelson’s life was overshadowed by the absence of his mother. She had left him and his father at the age he needed her the most, she had left them for another man. This abandonment hurt his young heart, leaving behind scars that molded his character and reasoning.

As Nelson grew into a handsome, tall and muscular man, he built sturdy walls around his heart like that of the wall of china, vowing never to let love touch him again. He found peace in his solitude, embracing a life of independence and self-reliance. He spend most of his days working and night reflecting on the job done during the day, he made sure love or any romantic feeling stayed far from him.

However, fate had other plans for Nelson. One bright sunny day, as the sun cast its golden glow across the village, the sunflower gave their shine and the birds sing their praise, a young maiden named Abena graced Nelsons path. With her long hair locks, eyes that sparkled like stars, and a beautiful smile that could melt even the hardest of hearts, she captivated Nelson’s attention like no other. Nelson’s tried to look away but he couldn’t because he had never seen such beauty in that village.

Abena, too, carrying her own burdens and sorrows. She had a gentle nature and an empathetic spirit, drawn to those who hid their pain behind walls of grief. It was this shared pain that forged an unseen connection between Nelson and Abena.

At first, Nelson tried his possible best to resist his pull towards Abena, the more he tried the harder it becomes. Their shared unspoke bond was there but there was no word to describe it, the more he saw her, the more the crack in the wall he had built around his heart spray. Without knowing, the key to unlocking his heart was stolen.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and with each passing moment, love flowed through the cracks of Nelson guarded heart. Abene’s presence brought light where there was darkness, laughter where there was sadness, and warmth where there was cold emptiness. They started talking and she showed him the beauty of opening up your heart to another soul.

Together, Nelson and Abena went on a journey of discovery. They spent time together laughing, picking flowers, fishing and sharing their hidden fear. One evening, Nelson walked up to Abena and asked her the question he had been meaning to ask her. He held her two hands gently and said to her “How were you able to walk quietly into my life, find the keys to my heart then stole it away from me?”. Abena replied “I guess the only mission given to me by God was to Steal your heart” “You did a very good job at that” Nelson replied.

As time went on, the people of the village marveled at the change they saw in Nelson. His once bitter and stiff countenance softened, replaced by a genuine smile that shows who he really is. The walls that once stood tall crumbled, replaced by a bridge of love that connected him to Abena.

Their love story became the talk of the village, the once sad and lonely Nelson who shut his heart towards any given love or romance is now seen showing affection to Abena with a bright smile on his face. The love spread to his father and his father was able to make friends once more. Abena was a blessing to them, she was the lady who took away their sorrow and brought in Love.

Thanks for reading. If you’re out there and you don’t want to give love a chance, trust me, a young prince or maiden is coming to steal your heart away. We are still in the month of Love, so I Love you all. Byeee.
