The Shadow of the Meninas
Some time ago the east of the city of Caracas was the scene of a truly impressive artistic exhibition, where various figures alluding to Velázquez's Meninas were exhibited in different public spaces, but on this occasion with attire and colours that represented the true feelings of Venezuelans. Therefore, their unique appearance and taking a photograph of them that would go down in history became the objective of thousands of Caracas residents, who took to the streets in an authentic cultural and artistic movement.

La Sombra de las Meninas
Hace ya un tiempo el este de la ciudad de Caracas fue el escenario de una muestra artística realmente impresionante, en donde diversas figuras alusivas a las Meninas de Velázquez estuvieron expuestas en distintos espacios públicos, pero en esta ocasión con atuendos y colores que representaban el verdadero sentir de la venezolanidad, por lo tanto, singular aspecto y tomarles una fotografía que quedara para la historia se convirtió en el objetivo de miles de caraqueños, quienes tomamos las calles en una auténtica movida cultural y artística.
In the midst of this pilgrimage through several kilometres of the city at that time I managed to capture most of these figures, in fact some publications of that time dealt with this subject, but I commented on a photographic series there are always images that are left somewhat behind, this story is that these photographs that were archived hid an unprecedented treasure, because in them we can admire not only in a perfect way the artistic piece, but we can also find very peculiar shadows, which point to different directions, they are conjugated with humanoid figures and at the same time they contrast with the shades of the city.
En medio de este peregrinar por varios kilómetros de la ciudad en ese momento yo logré capturar a la mayoría de estas figuras, de hecho algunas publicaciones de ese momento trataron este tema, pero comentó a serie fotográfica siempre hay imágenes que van quedando algo rezagadas, esta historia es que esas fotografías que fueron archivadas escondían un tesoro sin precedentes, pues en ellas podemos admirar no solo de manera perfecta la pieza artística, sino que también nos encontramos con sombras muy peculiares, las cuales apuntan a diversas direcciones, se conjugan con figuras humanoides y al mismo tiempo se contrastan con los matices propios de la ciudad.
Wherever we look we can find a shadow, we just have to sharpen our gaze and capture these images in the precise frame and moment, so that in this way we can generate images with interesting characteristics, deep stories and a very realistic vision. Las Meninas was that ideal moment that allowed me to enjoy myself to the fullest as I walked around the city, capturing shadows without even realising it and living to the fullest the goodness of a simple but happy life.
A donde quiera que miremos podemos encontrar una sombra, solo tenemos que afinar nuestra mirada y capturar esas imágenes en el encuadre y momento preciso, para que de esta manera podamos generar imágenes de características interesantes, historias profundas y una visión muy realista. Las meninas fueron ese momento ideal que me permitió disfrutar al máximo mientras recorría la ciudad, capturando sombras sin siquiera darme cuenta y viviendo al máximo las bondades de una vida sencilla pero feliz.
