alternatetext

Crooked House is a 2017 mystery thriller film directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner and starring Glenn Close. It is based on the 1949 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie.

The film tells the story of the Leonides family, a wealthy and eccentric clan who live in a crooked house on a remote estate. When the patriarch of the family, Aristide Leonides, is found dead, private investigator Charles Hayward is hired to investigate the murder.

Hayward soon discovers that the Leonides family is full of secrets and lies. Aristide had three wives, all of whom are still alive. He also had a number of children and grandchildren, all of whom stand to inherit his fortune.

Hayward interviews all of the members of the family, but no one seems to have a motive for killing Aristide. He also uncovers a number of dark secrets about the family's past.

As Hayward gets closer to solving the case, he finds himself in danger. Someone is trying to kill him.

Glenn Close plays Lady Edith de Haviland, Aristide's first wife and the matriarch of the Leonides family. She is a formidable and manipulative woman who is determined to protect her family's secrets.

Crooked House is a complex and suspenseful mystery film with a star-studded cast. It is a must-see for fans of Agatha Christie and mystery thrillers in general.

However, it is important to note that the film was not as well-received as the novel. Some critics criticized the film for its slow pace and convoluted plot. Others felt that the film did not do justice to the complexity of the novel's characters.

Overall, Crooked House is a well-made and entertaining mystery film. However, it is important to keep in mind that it is not a perfect adaptation of the novel.
