alternatetext

House of the Long Shadows is a 1983 British horror film directed by Pete Walker. The film stars Desi Arnaz, Jr. as Kenneth Magee, a struggling American author who bets his publisher $20,000 that he can write a novel of the caliber of Wuthering Heights in 24 hours. To get in the mood for the undertaking, he goes to a deserted Welsh manor.

Upon his arrival, however, Magee discovers that the manor is not as empty as he was told. Still there are Lord Grisbane (John Carradine) and his daughter, Victoria (Sheila Keith), who have been maintaining the mansion on their own. But as the night wears on, a series of strange and unsettling events begin to occur. Magee is visited by a succession of mysterious guests, each with their own dark secrets. As the line between reality and illusion blurs, Magee finds himself trapped in a chilling game of psychological terror.

The film features a cast of horror icons, including Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing. Price plays Lionel Grisbane, a suave and enigmatic figure who seems to know more about Magee than he lets on. Lee plays Corrigan, a menacing servant who appears to be under Lionel's control. And Cushing plays Sebastian Grisbane, a wheelchair-bound recluse who is said to be haunted by the ghosts of his past.

House of the Long Shadows is a classic example of the British horror genre. The film is atmospheric and suspenseful, with a strong sense of dread and unease. The performances are all excellent, with Price, Lee, and Cushing delivering particularly memorable turns. The film is a must-see for fans of horror cinema.
