alternatetext

Secret Window is a 2004 American psychological thriller film directed by David Koepp and starring Johnny Depp. It is based on the 1998 novella of the same name by Stephen King.

The film follows Mort Rainey (Depp), a successful mystery writer who is struggling to finish his latest novel after his wife Amy (Maria Bello) leaves him for another man. Mort retreats to his isolated cabin in the woods to focus on his writing, but he is soon interrupted by a strange man named John Shooter (John Turturro). Shooter accuses Mort of plagiarizing his work and demands compensation. Mort denies the accusations, but Shooter is relentless. He begins to stalk Mort and his friends, and he makes a series of increasingly threatening demands.

As the film progresses, Mort begins to doubt his own sanity. He can't remember writing the story that Shooter is accusing him of plagiarizing, and he starts to see things that may or may not be real. He also begins to suspect that Shooter is not who he says he is.

Secret Window is a suspenseful and atmospheric film that keeps the audience guessing until the very end. It is a dark and twisted tale about identity, sanity, and the creative process.

Depp delivers a strong performance as Mort Rainey, a man who is unraveling at the seams. He is ably supported by Turturro, Bello, and the rest of the cast.

Secret Window was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $45 million worldwide. It was praised for its atmosphere, suspense, and Depp's performance.
