How to get a Hive Account

alternatetext

The 2006 film The Ex is a romantic comedy about a slacker who is forced to work for his father-in-law after his pregnant wife steps away from her high-paying job.

Zach Braff plays Tom Reilly, a chef who has difficulty keeping a steady job. His wife, Sofia (Amanda Peet), is an attorney. When Sofia gets pregnant, they agree that she will be a full-time mom and Tom will work hard to get promoted.

When Tom gets fired after defending his friend Paco, he takes a job in Ohio working at the ad agency where his father-in-law (Charles Grodin) is the assistant director. Assigned to report to Chip (Jason Bateman), who is a strict and hard-working paraplegic and Sofia's ex-boyfriend from high school, Tom soon finds himself in a power struggle with Chip.

As Tom's frustrations mount, he seems to sway Sofia to his side. Tom begins to suspect that Chip isn't handicapped at all and goes through his desk. He finds a photo of him playing tennis and rushes to his in-laws' house to see his wife and show her the picture. He finds Chip having dinner with Sofia and her parents and holding his child.

In the end, Tom and Sofia realize that they still love each other and they reconcile. Tom also gets a promotion at the ad agency.

The Ex is a light-hearted and funny film that explores the themes of marriage, parenthood, and career. It is also a celebration of second chances and finding your true love.
