The Firm is a 1993 American legal thriller film directed by Sydney Pollack and based on the 1991 novel of the same name by John Grisham. It stars Tom Cruise as Mitch McDeere, a recent Harvard Law School graduate who accepts a lucrative job offer from a prestigious law firm in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mitch and his wife Abby soon discover that The Firm is a front for the Chicago Mafia, and that their new colleagues are involved in money laundering and other illegal activities. When Mitch's friend and mentor, Avery Tolar (Gene Hackman), is murdered, Mitch realizes that he and his wife are also in danger.

Mitch must decide whether to cooperate with the FBI and risk exposing the firm's secrets, or to stay silent and risk his own life and that of his wife.
