alternatetext

The Hustle is a 2019 American comedy film directed by Chris Addison and starring Anne Hathaway, Rebel Wilson, and Alex Sharp. It is a female-centered remake of the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, which is a remake of the 1964 film Bedtime Story. The film follows two women who set out to con an Internet millionaire.

Penny Rust (Wilson) is a small-time con artist who catfishes wealthy men, pretending to be an attractive young lady looking for love; then showing up on the first date claiming to be friends with her persona and convincing the man into giving her lots of money, which she claims will go to her persona. Josephine Chesterfield (Hathaway) is a sophisticated con artist who cons the world's richest men out of their money. Their idol is the legendary con artist “Medusa” whose real identity is unknown. The two con artists meet for the first time while traveling on the French Riviera.

They agree to a team-up in a con against an arrogant billionaire tech mogul named Thomas Westerberg (Sharp). They decide to compete against each other to see who can con Westerberg out of more money.

The Hustle is a fun and entertaining film with two great performances from Hathaway and Wilson.

However, the film was not a critical success, with some critics criticizing its predictable plot and its lack of originality. Overall, The Hustle is a decent comedy film that is sure to please fans of the genre.
