What Is GHAWG?
#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

After introductions, we learned
a bit about each other.

Rhonda was an independent trucker. She had made a delivery to Defiance the day I noticed her. She heard about my ride to Sturgis and wanted to join me. I didn't mind a companion, even if I felt like George Costanza next to her.

We can assume that he was 5 feet, 7 inches (1.70 meters) tall. In one episode he mentioned a fantasy where he was with a woman about 1 foot taller (which would make her 2.00 meters tall) who would rub oil all over his head; it never happened, so it only stayed a fantasy.

🏍️ In the bonus zapfic entry I included in last week's post, I noted that the "very tall redhead"-- the inspiration for Rhonda Bella-- had a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Between then and the day I published this entry for #GHAWG I discovered the Victory brand of motorcycles.

Victory Motorcycles was a subsidiary of Polaris Industries, which also owned the right to the Indian brand of motorcycles. Although Victory operated from 1998 through 2017 (to be replaced by the resurrected Indian brand), spare parts for Victory motorcycles can still be purchased.

Next came the $64,000 Question:
"You know about my hospital experience.
I need a co-pilot."
She answered "I'm all in";

🏍️ Although I could have continued #GHAWG without her character, it would have been more difficult for me to do so. I included Rhonda Bella because she fulfills multiple roles, one of which is to be David Guardia's co-pilot. Even Moses-- yes, that Moses-- needed help from his brother Aaron and his sister Miriam (and later, from Joshua).

Rhonda could have said no; that would have been that. Even if she truly wanted to join me, she could have questioned me about my request; she didn't. Instead, she said to me "There's nothing for me home. I can do more in life."

I made a hard clap and said "Giddy-up!" We still had plenty of time to reach Sturgis, so we agreed to take Iowa roads. Before that, we took I-80 until it left us on IA-6 near Wilton. We got to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
🏍️ Another Seinfeld reference, this time featuring Cosmo Kramer. He would say "Giddy-up!" when the answer to one of his questions was what he wanted to hear.

We rode IA-6 to Iowa City. When we reached Midway we noticed someone bleeding on the side of the road. A few minutes after we put the soul on my trike a twister hit. We raced to the hospital like bats out of hell. We made it.
🏍️ This zapfic entry is the first part of the Good Samaritan story. The next part (in next week's post) concludes the Good Samaritan story.
🏍️ Who was the soul rescued by Rhonda and David? We'll find out later in the daily zapfic serial as they ride post-STURGIS down the West Coast; currently they're in Montana.
🏍️ "Bats out of hell" was just a callback to the song by Meatloaf. If they wanted to avoid the tornado which appeared from nowhere, that's how fast they needed to ride.

Rhonda Bella is the vaguely familiar face from David Guardia's recent past. She's the very tall redhead he saw in Defiance, Ohio. This time she stays in the daily zapfic serial. They take a bit of time to learn about each other before they continue their ride to the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis North, Dakota.

GHAWG itself continues at LeoThreads, where Act 4 sees David Guardia's shortened crew and Harry's Mongols ride through northern Wyoming and southern Montana. They take a 3-day break in Bozeman, Montana before they begin the business part of the ride to Portland, Oregon. Harry and his Mongols are based in San Diego, California, so they're keeping David's crew company. After Portland, David and his crew will return the favor and keep Harry and the Mongols company.
