In the Arms of Family - LOVE

The unconditional love I enjoy from my family is beyond measurement. I think one of the amazing things that could happen to anyone is to have a great, loving family. People who show unconditional love for one another and are a shoulder to lean on in difficult times. People who live together, support each other, and create beautiful memories together. Family is indeed wonderful, and I feel so emotional about the show of love and sacrifices from my family members.

Over the years, I have had a situation that was between life and death. Even though I am married with my husband and kids and live in another state, my family proved to me how selfless they can be in that situation. The emotional support, the physical support, the spiritual support, and the financial support were all amazing, and I kept pleading to my creator to spare my soul to live and show gratitude to these angels in human form. My brother took leave from his office and traveled down to the state where I live just to be with me, offering support until I became fine. He didn't say, Oh, you have a husband; he should take care of you alone. He kept communicating with other family members about my health progress, and they were all showing support in diverse ways. What manner of love is this?

We have fallen and risen a few times, but my family has never turned their back on us. Whatever happens to anyone in my family, everyone sees it as their personal problem and won't relent until the person overcomes it. I remember when my sister chose a particular lifestyle that was not comfortable for anyone at home, we made sure to bring her back in love, politely made her understand the route she wanted to follow, listened to her reasons, and provided her with what money cannot buy. This is how families should live, after all, covering each other's nakedness out of love.

This show of love didn't start as an adult but has been in existence in my family right from the beginning and has bonded us together. I will say that my parents played a great role in ensuring that we understood what family was all about. Many times, my dad sat us down with his teachings full of wisdom, giving us instances of family love and the need why we shouldn't allow anything to spare the bond. He kept mentioning, "When I am no longer in this world, remember to keep being your brother's keeper. If you secure a job in the future, do not eat only chicken in your new home without checking on your brothers or sisters. There will be a time each of you will live in your respective homes, but that shouldn't break our family bond. These were the words of my late dad, and I am sure that wherever he is now, he will look at my family and still see that the seed he planted is not only growing but sprouting as well".

Families are the heart of society, and to have a great society, it should begin with our respective families, either modern or traditional.
