Riftwatchers Set & Presale Announcement

After months of the Chaos Legion ravaging the Splinterlands, the Riftwatchers have finally arrived! This post will tell you everything you need to know about the amazing new set of characters getting ready to descend upon the Splinterlands.

Set Details

  • Pack Name: Rift Gems (see the "Gems" tab in the Splinterlands shop)
  • Pack Presale Launch Date: Sept. 15th, 2022 2:00 PM ET / 18:00 UTC
  • ESTIMATED Riftwatchers Set Release: Sept. 27th, 2022
  • Total Packs: 3,000,000
  • Cards: 43 cards in total, 13 common, 12 rare, 6 epic (Summoners), and 12 legendary (including 5 airdrops, not including the limited edition promo card)
  • Pricing: $5.00 USD worth of SPS (at current external market pricing) + 1 VOUCHER
  • Bonus Packs: Bulk purchases of Riftwatchers packs in a single transaction will be eligible for bonus packs at the rates below for a cost of 1 VOUCHER token per bonus pack:
    • 100+ packs = 10% bonus packs
    • 500+ packs = 15% bonus packs
    • 2000+ packs = 20% bonus packs

Please note that unlike Chaos Legion packs, EVERY Riftwatchers pack will require a VOUCHER token to purchase, both during the presale phase and afterwards.

It is important to note here that 100% of the SPS tokens spent on the purchase of Riftwatchers packs go directly to the SPS DAO for the benefit of all token holders. Unlike Chaos Legion or the other major editions, the "mini" sets are not revenue generators for the Splinterlands company and all of the value from those goes to the SPS community!

Cards

As mentioned above, the Riftwatchers set will contain 43 new cards in total not including the limited edition promo card (more on that in the presale section below). The rarity breakdown will be 13 common, 12 rare, 6 epic (Summoners), and 12 legendary (including 5 airdrop cards to be added over the life of the set).

The six Epic rarity cards will be 4-mana Summoner cards - one from each Element - and will mainly feature abilities similar to the Summoners from the Azmare Dice edition.

The Monster cards in the set are mostly in the higher mana cost range and feature abilities like Taunt and the recently added Reflection Shield, as well as a new ability being introduced with the set called "Fury", which allows the character to do double damage against targets with the Taunt ability.

Riftwatchers cards are going to be a must-have for the higher mana cap battles, and we look forward to players having many more options to choose from in those situations!

We will be revealing the cards here and there over the course of the next few weeks before the release - so stay tuned to the official Splinterlands channels - but please keep in mind that final stats and abilities are subject to change at any time ahead of the release (and potentially even afterwards if necessary) based on internal playtesting and review.

Airdrops

Similar to previous editions, Riftwatchers will contain 5 cards that will be added into the set one at a time each time another 500,000 Riftwatchers packs are sold. These cards will each be Legendary rarity and there will be one for each of the five basic elements in the game.

Each time 500k Riftwatchers packs are sold and one of these cards is added into the set, the card will also be airdropped to players who have already purchased Riftwatchers packs, with each pack having a chance of receiving an airdropped card.

This incentivizes players to purchase their packs as early as possible, because packs purchased in the first 500k sold will have a chance of receiving all five of the new cards whereas packs purchased later in the set will miss out on any airdrops that have already passed.

Presale

The first 500k Riftwatchers packs sold will be considered "presale" packs. The presale is currently scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 15th, 2022 at 2 PM ET / 18:00 UTC. Please note that Riftwatchers packs will not be able to be opened until the set goes live which is currently scheduled for Sept 27th, 2022.

The presale packs will have the same pricing structure as general sale packs but they will come with some additional benefits for purchasers. The primary benefit will be the chance to receive a new, limited edition promo card that will be airdropped to pack purchasers after the presale packs are sold out.

This will work very similarly to the Doctor Blight promo card for the Chaos Legion set. Every Riftwatchers pack purchased within the first 500k packs will have a 2% chance of getting an airdropped promo card, with a 4% chance of that card being a gold foil version. Additionally, players will be GUARANTEED a promo card for every 50 packs purchased in the presale, and will be guaranteed a gold foil promo card for every 1000 packs purchased!

The details and stats of the promo card will be revealed on the town hall call later today (Tuesday, Sept 6th, 2022) so make sure to tune in to that! Please keep in mind that this limited edition promo card will NOT be available in packs. The only way to get it will be to purchase Riftwatchers packs during the presale.

In addition to the promo card, for every 1000 packs purchased during the presale players will receive a custom in-game title of "The Watcher".

Finally, we want to remind everyone that the 500k presale packs will also be the only packs eligible for the first legendary card airdrop, as well as the other four legendary card airdrops over the life of the set.

The promo card airdrop will occur shortly after the Riftwatchers set launches (currently scheduled for Sept 27th, 2022) or after the first 500k packs are sold, whichever is later. The first airdrop card for the set will be added to the set and airdropped to pack purchasers roughly two weeks after the Riftwatchers set launches or after the first 500k packs are sold, whichever is later.

Stay tuned for more updates from the Splinterlands!
