It was in December 2020 when I realized that Netflix had included in its future releases this film, for which I had been waiting 4 years to see it, since at that time I did not get to enjoy it in the cinema so I was waiting anxiously for some platform to release it.
Finally February 2021 arrived and I could sit down to enjoy this masterpiece that 3 years before had won the Oscar for best adapted screenplay and yes, this film is another adaptation of a novel of the same name by American author Andre Aciman.

Fue en diciembre de 2020 cuando me di cuenta que Netflix había incluido en sus estrenos futuros a esta película, por la cual había estado esperando 4 años para poder ver, ya que cuando se estrenó no alcancé a disfrutar de ella en el cine, así que esperaba con ansias que alguna plataforma la estrenara.
Por fin llego Febrero de 2021 y pude sentarme a disfrutar esta pieza maestra que 3 años antes se había llevado el Oscar a mejor guion adaptado y sí, este filme es otra adaptación

Call Me by Your Name is an American film directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by screenwriter James Ivory produced by a group of film companies and distributed by Sony Pictures, it was premiered in 2017 at the famous Sundance Film Festival. This film has a duration of more than 2 hours and starred figures such as Timothee Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar and the special partition of the author Andre Aciman.
The film had a budget of 3.5 million dollars and was set entirely in Italy in the 80's with that amount they managed to make magic, the photography is wonderful and was under the direction of Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, for which he received an Oscar nomination for his work, while the soundtrack was in charge of Ryuichi Sakamoto including songs by other artists chosen by Guadagnino.

Este filme tiene una duración de más de 2 horas y fue protagonizada por figuras como Timothee Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar y la particiacion especial del autor Andre Aciman.
La película tuvo un presupuesto de 3,5 millones de dólares y estuvo ambientada en su totalidad en la Italia de los años 80’s con esa cantidad lograron hacer magia, la fotografía es maravillosa y estuvo bajo la dirección de Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, por la cual recibió una nominación al Oscar por su trabajo, mientras que la banda sonora estuvo a cargo de Ryuichi Sakamoto incluyendo canciones de otros artistas elegidos por Guadagnino.

The story is about the brief love story between a 17-year-old boy named Elio (Timothee Chalamet) and a 24-year-old graduate student named Oliver (Armie Hammer) which is set in 1983 Italy. Oliver arrives at Elio's house as a guest of his father Mr. Perlman (Michael Stuhlbarg). At first they don't like each other Oliver is a carefree and arrogant young man while Elio is a Bach lover who is just beginning to discover his sexual identity. The two spend the summer playing somewhat seductive games against each other, which will not stop them both from seeking out experiences with women in town.
Together they begin to give in to desire, living a short but painful torrid romance that will have consequences for the couple's future. Meanwhile, Elio's parents will witness the beginning and the end of this romance that develops in an intellectual and presumptuous environment that goes beyond sex.

La historia trata acerca de la breve historia de amor entre un joven de 17 años llamado Elio (Timothee Chalamet) y un estudiante de postgrado de 24 años llamado Oliver (Armie Hammer) la cual está ambientada en la Italia de 1983. Oliver llegara a casa de Elio como invitado de su padre el Sr. Perlman (Michael Stuhlbarg). Al principio no se caen bien Oliver es un joven despreocupado y arrogante mientras que Elio es un amante de la música de Bach que apenas está comenzando a descubrir su identidad sexual. Los 2 pasan el verano enfrentándose con juegos un poco seductores que no impedirán que ambos busquen experiencias con mujeres del pueblo.
Juntos comenzaran a ceder ante el deseo viviendo un tórrido romance corto pero doloroso que traerá consecuencias para el fututo de la pareja. Mientras tanto los padres de Elio serán testigos del comienzo y el final de este romance que se desarrolla en un ambiente intelectual y presuntuoso que va más allá del sexo.
𝕸𝖞 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎𝖔𝖓
Call Me by Your Name is one of those films in which you have to be attentive to every detail, making the film develops in the midst of the silence of its protagonists which makes it too long. At the beginning it is slow and everything happens very slowly, too much parsimony if you are one of those who get bored quickly.
I liked how the director approached the relationship between the characters, which makes you immerse yourself in the internal struggles they both have as logical, thinking subjects who have to deal with what they feel and what they want. Much of this is incredibly enjoyable but it all seems short lived when you read the book and feel that the director failed to interpret Elio's feelings and made him seem awkward when in the novel his discovery gave him pleasure in delving into fetish. All of this is touched on very little in the film and when Elio does get to masturbate with the peach it's such a long scene that you despair and end up feeling as guilty as the protagonist.
Although the scenery and the music chosen by the director were perfectly enlivened by the chords of Sufjan Stevens, all this is lost if you do not concentrate on the story and even get bored. The story itself was already predictable: an older man takes advantage of the curiosity of a minor, in the novel it was not like that, the scenario more than curiosity was desire what Elio felt and Oliver although he was older propitiated the unbridled passions of both.
At the end of the film the only thing that is clear is how fascinating Elio's parents are, who witness the blossoming of this romance and do not interfere at all in their son's life. I loved the wisdom of these parents, all that their looks and body language conveyed made the final stretch more believable and enjoyable.
𝕸𝖎 𝕺𝖕𝖎𝖓𝖎ó𝖓
Llamame por tu Nombre es uno de esos filmes en los que tienes que estar a atento a cada detalle, haciendo que la película se desarrolle en medio del silencio de sus protagonistas lo que la alarga demasiado. Al principio es lenta y todo pasa muy despacio, demasiada parsimonia si eres de los que se aburren rápido.
Me gusto como el director abordó la relación entre los personajes, que hace que te sumerjas en las luchas internas que tienen ambos como sujetos lógicos y pensantes que tienen que hacer frente a lo que sienten y lo que desean. Mucho de esto es increíblemente disfrutable pero todo parece corto cuando leíste el libro y sientes que el director no supo interpretar los sentimientos de Elio y lo hizo parecer torpe cuando en la novela su descubrimiento le originaba placer adentrándose en el fetichismo. Todo esto se toca poco en el filme y cuando Elio llega a masturbarse con el melocotón es tan larga la escena que desespera y terminas sintiéndote tan culpable como el protagonista.
Aunque los escenarios y la música que escogió el director estuvieron perfectamente amenizados por los acordes de Sufjan Stevens, todo esto se pierde si no te concentras en la historia llegando incluso a aburrirte. La historia de por sí ya era predecible: un hombre mayor se aprovecha de la curiosidad de un menor de edad, en la novela no era así el escenario más que curiosidad era deseo lo que sentía Elio y Oliver aunque era mayor propiciaba el desenfreno de las pasiones de ambos.
Al final de la película lo único que queda claro es lo fascinante que son los padres de Elio quienes son testigos del florecimiento de este romance y no se meten para nada en la vida de su hijo. Me encantó la sabiduría de estos padres, todo lo que transmitían sus miradas y su lenguaje corporal me hicieron más creíble y ameno el tramo final.
Parents should be like that in real life and be simple spectators of their children's lives. For me the most fascinating thing about this film was to assume that Elio's father had a similar experience in his youth and when he talks to his son about his feelings is so real and sincere that scene makes you feel identified with their stories, the understanding way in which the relationship between father and son is developed is magnificent.
If I am interested in knowing what Elio will be like when he grows up, thanks to his parents, I would like to know if he will control his desires in such a perfect way, living his life from silence and understanding and not from passion.
Is Call Me by Your Name a gay-themed film? I don't know, I would say no. In a broader sense, this masterpiece talks about the discovery of sexual identity and how these desires develop through an adolescent. Was there an apology to pedophilia? I don't think so. Most of us develop sexual interest at about that age, whether it was wrong or right, that would be a matter of each one but for me love has no age.
Los padres deberían ser así en la vida real y ser simple espectadores en la vida de sus hijos. Para mí lo más fascinante de esta película fue suponer que el padre de Elio tuvó una experiencia similar en su juventud y cuando habla con su hijo acerca de sus sentimientos es tan real y sincera esa escena que hace que te sientas identificado con sus historias, la manera comprensiva con la cual se desarrolla la relación entre padre e hijo es magnífica.
Si me interesa el saber cómo será Elio de grande es gracias a sus padres, me gustaría conocer si controlará sus deseos de manera tan perfecta, viviendo su vida desde el silencio y la comprensión y no desde la pasión.
¿Es Llamame por tu nombre una película de temática homosexual? No lo sé, yo diría que no. En un sentido más amplio esta pieza maestra habla del descubrimiento de la identidad sexual y como se desarrollan estos deseos a través de un adolescente. ¿Hubo apología a la pedofilia? No lo creo. La mayoría de nosotros desarrollamos interés sexual más o menos a esa edad, ya sí estuvo mal o bien, eso sería cuestión de cada quien pero para mí el amor no tiene edad.
In the end, as expected, Oliver marries a girl from the village, Elio has a very bad time and it all ends with a phone call from Oliver and Elio's tears. Brilliant, touching, tedious, nostalgic, pleasant and all the necessary adjectives are thanks to Guadagnino who at least made us spend a pleasant time.
Apparently there will be a sequel, it seems unnecessary and I do not think it will be made especially with the recent accusations of cannibalism to the actor Armie Hammer, anyway that's another matter. Although this film received universal critical acclaim, my score will be 8/10.
Al final como era de esperarse Oliver se casa con una chica del pueblo, Elio la pasa mal muy mal y todo termina con una llamada de parte de Oliver y las lágrimas de Elio. Brillante, conmovedora, tediosa, nostálgica, placentera y todos los adjetivos que sean necesarios son gracias a Guadagnino que al menos nos hizo pasar un rato ameno.
Al parecer habrá una secuela, me parece innecesaria y no creo que se llegue a realizar sobre todo con las recientes acusaciones de canibalismo contra el actor Armie Hammer, en fin eso es harina de otro costal. Aunque esta película recibió la aclamación universal de la crítica, mi puntuación será de 8/10.
