Today we're going to take a look at Montreal's Graffiti Alley with some of the lettering that was done after the Mural Festival. In my opinion, there are two parts to this alley, the first, legal one, between avenue des Pins and rue Saint Cuthbert, with a tribute to Scan by many Montreal artists, such as this lettering done by Cemz. Then there's a "wilder" section featuring the work of Queef Burglar and other letterings like Matbex on StreetArt #585.

Aujourd'hui nous allons parcourir la Graffiti Alley à Montréal avec quelques lettrages qui ont été réalisés après le Mural Festival. Cette ruelle se compose, à mon avis, de deux parties, la première entre l'avenue des Pins et la rue Saint Cuthbert avec l'hommage à Scan réalisé par de nombreux artistes de Montréal comme ce lettrage de Cemz. Puis une autre partie, un peu plus sauvage, ou on retrouve le travail de Queef Burglar ou d'autres lettrages commme celui de Matbex voir StreetArt #585.

The first lettering is at the beginning of the Graffiti Alley next to ArtGang, an art gallery, clothing and beer... It was done by Benny Wilding aka Cemz whose work has often been posted in my StreetArt series.

Le premier lettrage se trouve à l'entrée de la Graffiti Alley à côté de la boutique ArtGang, galerie d'art, vêtements et bières... Il a été réalisé par Benny Wilding aka Cemz dont les œuvres ont souvent été postées dans ma série StreetArt.

But for new readers, Cemz which is the writer's name of Benny Wilding is an artist who discovered StreetArt during a trip to New York at the age of 12 in the mid-90's. He came back to Montreal to devote himself to it in 1997. All his letterings are great. Here are a few close-ups to prove it and admire the details.

Mais pour les nouveaux lecteurs, Cemz qui est le nom de writer de Benny Wilding est un artiste qui a découvert le StreetArt lors d'un voyage à New York à l'âge de 12 ans au milieu des années 90. Il est revenu à Montréal pour s'y consacrer dès 1997. Tous ses lettrages sont magnifiques. Voici quelques photos pour le prouver et admirer les détails.

Queef Burglar

As I said in the introduction, the Queef Burglar lettering is a little further up Graffiti Alley at Bagg Street. This part of the alley is a bit "illegal", but as it's behind stores or restaurants, I think it's tolerated. It adds a bit of color to the garbage bins 😀.

Comme je le disais en introduction, le lettrage de Queef Burglar se trouve un peu plus haut dans la Graffiti Alley au niveau de la rue Bagg. Cette partie de la ruelle est un peu "illégale" mais comme il s'agit de l'arrière de magasins ou de restaurants, je pense que c'est toléré. Cela met un peu de couleurs aux poubelles 😀.

Not much information on this artist as his Instagram account is private. I think the name comes from the BoJack Horseman series on Netflix. The character is never seen, it's the pseudonym with which the other characters chat on social networks. I didn't get hooked on this series. What about you?

Peu d'information sur cet artiste comme son compte Instagram est privé. Je crois que le nom provient de la série BoJack Horseman sur Netflix. Le personnage n'est jamais vu, il s'agit du pseudo avec qui les autres personnages discutent sur les réseaux sociaux. Je n'ai pas accroché sur cette série. Et vous ?
