The GHAWG Diaries, Part 12

The GHAWG Diaries, Part 12

What's happening behind the scenes to bring new GHAWG content? The GHAWG Diaries is my recap of what I've been doing.

Base image came in another form from PublicDomainPictures.Net. Edits made using MS Paint.

Introduction

There's more to #GHAWG than just daily zapfic entries and the spreadsheet I use to track them. There's research. There's review. There's also thought and inspiration. Then there are the tools involved in doing any of those tasks.

Just to keep things from getting scrambled in my head, and also to document for myself what I've been considering, I began keeping a diary of my activities as they concern #GHAWG. With posts in the GHAWG, Uninterrupted series on hold at Act 6 while Interlude 3 remains in progress, I decided to share these diary entries with everyone on Hive blockchain.

On Mondays which don't feature a GHAWG, Uninterrupted post-- GHAWG-U-- I'll post diary entries from the previous 7 days or between GHAWG-U posts if the time between them is short. For Part 12, there are 7 days' worth of diary entries. The first entry starts on 2023-December-25.

Before anyone scratches their heads at a few terms, here are 3 I began using since the previous post:

TermMeaning
Rat BikeCode name for #GHAWG (the first and current zapfic serial)
Blue LionCode name for the middle zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe
The BronzeCode name for the final zapfic serial in the GHAWG Universe

📓 MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, whether you exchange gifts on this day or not, may this holiday season (through 2024-January-6) be excellent for you and for those about whom you care a great deal.

📓 Since last Monday I posted GHAWG, Uninterrupted: Act 6, this is the first edition of TGD in 2 weeks. With offline matters taking precedence, this was my only GHAWG-related activity today.

📓 At the moment, the zapfic queue goes to 2024-March-1. At that point, Our Heroes are leaving Arizona to enter New Mexico. I was reveiwing the digital map to see if there was anything in that area I could use for the story. Would you believe that there is a Bitcoin ATM less than 1 mile from the Arizona-New Mexico state lines? This gives me another opportunity to include cryptocurrency as part of The GHAWG Universe. Recall that David Guardia is a decentralized blogger for his side hustle, Rhonda Guardia (nee Bella) stacks $ETH, and the Brothers Marchenko are into cryptocurrency. Most likely, either Hank or Frank will make use of this Bitcoin ATM near Lupton, Arizona. Heading east, Lupton is the last stop on Old Route 66. Speaking of Route 66, the lyrics were composed in 1946. The current time for Rat Bike is the year 2028. As a result of this discovery I made, I will publish a post tomorrow on this very topic.

📓 Because of a purely accidental discovery I made while reviewing the digital map of Arizona near New Mexico, I publihsed a short post based on that discovery: "GHAWG Behind the Scenes: Coming Attractions 2024-March." Thanks to the Coin Cloud Bitcoin ATM located near Lupton, Arizona, I may have 2 or 3 zapfic entries centered around cryptocurrency. Lindsay Etxeberria is more of a "what-coiner" than a no-coiner since she doesn't know much about the topic. This means the rest of Our Heroes can teach her a few things about cryptocurrency.

📓 Although I was away from the computer much of today, I still had GHAWG on my mind. Between repeated playing of the Depeche Mode version of "Route 66" and Wonder Woman themes, I was thinking about developing the biography of Rhonda Bella.

Being born in 1968, David Guardia is part of Generation X. By the time he begins his Epic Ride, he is 60 years old. Since he began his ride in part to live out his mid-life crisis (which implies he will die in 2088 at age 120), he has been living younger than his actual age.

Why am I discussing David's age? Everyone else's ages are pegged to his. In this case, I used his age to determine details for Rhonda's biography.

Although she would be considered in some circles to be "an older woman," she is still in her child-bearing years. This puts her age in her mid-40s. Originally I was going to include her in Generation X. However, Genration X goes from 1965 through 1980; this means the years don't align for that detail to be true. So she will be part of Generation Y (the "Millenial" Generation). Her date of birth is 1984-August-3. I chose that date for her because that's the date gymnast Mary Lou Retton won the Gold Medal in the All-Around Event at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. If David is 60, then Rhonda is nearly 44 when she meets him at the bar in Davenport, Iowa. (For anyone out there keeping score, Harry Hoqualogue will be one of the last Baby Boomers, being born in 1964.)

📓 While reviewing my spreadsheet to prepare for the Weekly Summary post, I was trying to figure out how to add more plot to the zapfic serial. It's not that I want to make the story longer; it's already gone way past where I had expected the story to end. I was trying to figure out where events and conflicts could take place while Our Heroes ride east through Arizona and New Mexico using their best approximation of the route used by Old Route 66. I already know that the stop at Winona, Arizona wasn't what I had expected it to be (blink, and you miss it). Although Arizona and New Mexico have their population centers, where Old Route 66 is the area is mostly desert, cacti, and tumbleweeds. This means the most I can do is write a list of places they passed. Although that makes for great visuals (see the Indiana Jones movies), it also makes for less-than-great storytelling. As of 2024-March-01, Our Heroes will be on the verge of crossing into New Mexico. I still have time to figure things out.

Saturday, 2023-December-30
📓 Usually the Weekly Summary post is published on Saturdays. Since this weekend was the final weekend of 2023, I decided to postpone the Weekly Summary to Sunday, 2023-December-31 (New Year's Eve). The GHAWG Diaries is still going to be publihsed today, 2024-January-01 (New Year's Day).

📓 Now that I determined on Friday the birthdate for Rhonda Bella, I need to see where in Rat Bike I can make use of that detail. It would be odd for David Guardia to marry her if he doesn't even know her birthdate. If I recall correctly (not a given here), the motorcycle rally at STURGIS began on 2028-August-2; this puts Rhonda's birthday during the 10 days of this rally. I will need to review my spreadsheet to see where I can insert a zapfic entry to fill this gap in the story.

Sunday, 2023-December-31
📓 Today I published the Weekly Summary post. I was wondering where the main characters would have had their undergraduate educations (if any). Both Sanjay Rampersad and Lionel Odunsi are about to begin their senior years ar University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Brothers Marchenko passed on college altogether in order to be entrepreneurs and their own bosses. This means I need to figure out educational details for David Guardia (community college, then undergraduate school), Rhonda Bella (college in Iowa), Harry Hoqualogue (for now, Parts Unknown), and Lindsay Etxeberria (a school not in Iowa). These details will included in character dossiers I will publish at a later date.

When (and Where) To Catch #GHAWG

When

This is the normal schedule for the posting of content for #GHAWG:
● Daily -- Each zapfic entry is posted shortly after midnight, from New York
● Weekends -- Weekly Summaries (with modified screen capture from LeoThreads as cover image) are usually on Saturday, sometimes Sunday
● Monday -- Either GHAWG, Uninterrupted if present, or The GHAWG Diaries
● Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday -- GHAWG Behind the Scenes -- The goal is to publish these posts on all days not dedicated to the Weekly Sumamry, GHAWH-U, or The GHAWG Diaries (TGD). There may be days with no post, so I'll minimize those occasions as best as I can.

Where

● Daily zapfic entries drop at LeoThreads, usually posted shortly after midnight from New York (sometimes around noon)
● All long form posts-- Weekly Summaries, GHAWG-U, and TGD-- can be accessed using the #GHAWGnav sticky post or from my LeoFinance profile page
