Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.
-- Warren Buffett
About the Quote
Much of what we have right now is due to someone who had foresight a long time ago. It could have been and innovation by some inventor (like Thomas Edison) or an entrepreneur (like Steve Jobs). It could have been an inheritance left by a rich relative or a wealthy person who showed interest in us. It could even be our younger selves who saved for a rainy day or decided to be early adopters (including cryptocurrency).
It takes planning for the future and delayed gratification in order to be able to have a situation which is good for us in the long run. This is true if we're trying to establish passive income streams. This is true if we're trying to set some record for the books. It's even true if we're planning for our 75th birthday. We need to determine what we need to do to make it possible to be in those situations.
Whether we do it ourseles or someone else did it long ago, we all benefit from certain actions taken in the past.
