Here's my entry for this week's edition of CCC's Street Art Contest #148 with this great garage door done a few years back by Monk.E. This parking lot between two buildings was painted on all three walls, three superb works of which my favorite is this door despite the No Parking (Defense de Stationner) sign 😀.
Voici mon entrée pour l'édition de cette semaine du CCC's Street Art Contest #148 avec cette magnifique porte de garage réalisée il y a quelques années déjà par Monk.E. Ce parking entre deux immeubles a été peint sur les trois murs, 3 superbes œuvres dont ma préférée est cette porte malgré le panneau Défense de Stationner 😀.
I think it was made by Monk.E, it's really his style especially with that kind of calligraphy on the sides. / FR : Je pense qu'elle a été faite par Monk.E, c'est vraiment son style surtout avec cette sorte de calligraphie sur les côtés.

Monk.E
Monk.E is a Canadian artist and hip-hop musician who describes himself as an "Alchimiographiste". He started graffiti by founding the K6A crew. Since then Monk.E has shared his artistic vision all over the world. At the moment, he's more into music, having just released an album De Charbon à Diamant and performed at the Francofolies festival.
Monk.E est un artiste et musicien Hip-Hop canadien se définissant lui-même comme un Alchimiographiste. Il a commencé le graffiti en fondant le collectif K6A. Depuis Monk.E a partagé sa vision artistique partout dans le monde. Pour le moment, il est plus dans la musique, il vient de sortir un album De Charbon à Diamant et fait un concert pendant les Francofolies.
He also painted this fence just a little further up Boulevard Saint-Laurent. Really beautiful, the colors really stood out thanks to the snow when I passed by this winter. / FR : Il a aussi peint juste un peu plus haut sur le boulevard Saint-Laurent cette clôture. Vraiment belle, les couleurs ressortaient vraiment grâce à la neige lorsque je suis passé cet hiver.
Cemz aka Benny Wilding
But let's get back to this parking lot, which, as I said in the introduction, all the walls have been painted... There's also this superb lettering by Benny Wilding aka Cemz, an artist who discovered Street Art during a trip to New York at the age of 12 in the 90's. He returned to Montreal to devote himself to graffiti. He started out in 1997 as Cemz for lettering. His style often combines Pop Art & cartoons with the large lettering of his name, a real contrast between the two.
Mais revenons à ce parking dont, comme je disais en introduction, les 3 murs ont été peints... Il y a aussi ce superbe lettrage de Benny Wilding aka Cemz, artiste qui a découvert le Street Art lors d'un voyage à New York à l'âge de 12 ans au milieu des années 90. Il est revenu à Montréal pour s'y consacrer aussi. Il a commencé en 1997 sous le nom de Cemz pour le lettrage. Souvent, son style combine Pop Art & cartoons avec une grande écriture de son nom, véritable contraste entre les deux.
I only had my phone to take pictures, but it's not really good for that. I don't know why it made the bricks stand out so much. It doesn't in real life. By the way, I don't know if you noticed the Cess Pool sticker.
Je n'avais que mon téléphone pour prendre de photos, mais il n'est pas vraiment bon pour cela. Je ne sais pas pourquoi il a fait autant ressortir les briques. Ce n'est pas le cas en vrai. Je ne sais pas si vous avez remarqué l'autocollant de Cess Pool.

And to finish off this parking lot, the last wall also has superb lettering, but I don't know the artist, although the style rings a bell. / FR : Et pour finir ce parking, le dernier mur a aussi un superbe lettrage mais je ne connais pas l'artiste bien que le style me dit quelque chose.
